Major points of the program are:

§  Eligible recipients are able to receive donated vacation leave from eligible donors, as outlined in the program guidelines: http://shr.ucsc.edu/procedures/cat_leave/index.html.

§  The program is available on a campuswide basis across all fund sources, divisions, and departments.

§  Within a calendar year, an eligible employee may receive a maximum of eight calendar weeks of Catastrophic Leave at his/her appointed percent of time worked.

§  UCSC academic or staff employees who are eligible to accrue and use vacation may donate vacation leave to a designated recipient, provided that the donation will not drop the donor’s accrual base to less than 40 hours.

§  Only vacation leave may be donated; neither sick leave nor compensatory time off (CTO) may be donated.

§  Donations must be made in whole hour increments, four hours minimum at any one time.

§  The identity of a donor must be held as confidential information and will be known solely to the donor’s supervisor and/or Unit Head, and the donor’s Service Team staff.
