Services Needed: (Summer) Land conservation stewards to walk trails or boundaries weekly on one of 8 conservation areas (individually or in pairs) and identify management problems (such as trash deposits, tracks of motorized vehicles, damage to natural assets); identify animal and plant species; observe and document seasonal changes (make field notes, and if possible photographs or drawings). Assist in routine maintaince of trails and removal of litter.

Comments/Notes: Hillside is a day program for frail elders and disabled adults. Volunteers are needed to help with group activities, as well as individual assistance. You can help with a small walking group, craft activities and games, manicures or reading to visually impaired clients.

Horizons for Homeless Children

Services Needed: Fun and Energetic adults are sought to play with children living in homeless shelters in Southeastern MA for a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week (same day and time each week) for 6 months. Other "one shot" opportunities include: distributing flyers to recruit volunteers, making outreach phone calls and helping to compile research data in Excel files.
Comments/Notes: Sites include Fall River, New Bedford, Attleboro, and Taunton.
Prerequisite: For playing with children, a CORI Background Check, a 6 hour training session.
