Rounds
There will be five loose link (yay democracy!) preliminary rounds of American parliamentary debate, followed by a novice and varsity break, our break format will be determined based upon the number of teams attending and judges available, but will feature a minimum of novice finals and varsity quarterfinals.
Food
We will provide three full meals and accommodate any dietary restrictions. Dinner on Friday will be pizza. Breakfast on Saturday will be doughnuts and coffee, and we will host an Indian banquet in our Glass Pavilion as in previous years. Anyone with dietary restrictions should indicate such in their registration and we will provide appropriate accommodations.
Special Events
An APDA meeting will be held on Friday evening. A number of committee events will also be held throughout the weekend, details to follow.
Judging
We have a very small team and tournament size will be depend upon teams fulfilling their judging requirements. The judging requirement is (n-1)/2 rounded up. You will be charged $75 for every judge your team is missing, and institutions who fail to fulfill their judging requirements are subject to the risk of having their teams broken up. Novice judges do not count toward the judging requirement. Registration priority will be given to teams that fulfill their judging requirements.

Fees
Our tournament will be pay to play. Registration fees will be $125 for every two person team. Please contact us as soon as possible if you require a registration break. We are highly willing to offer registration breaks or swaps on a need-based basis. Please contact us ASAP at to request registration breaks, accompanied with a detailed account of your institution’s financial situation.
Travel
We are happy to assist any team with planning their transportation to our tournament - email if you have related concerns. The nearest airport is Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), from which there are a variety of travel options to Homewood. Some teams may find it easiest to travel via Amtrak or MARC train to Baltimore Penn Station. Several commercial bus companies, including Greyhound and Bolt Bus (recommended) service Baltimore City. If you are arriving to Baltimore Penn Station, you can take the free Homewood-Peabody-JHMI shuttle to our campus - details are available here: Teams who are driving should plan to either use metered street parking or park in South Garage, accessible via Wyman Park Drive. If you choose street parking, be aware of time restrictions - Baltimore City loves to ticket and tow.
Accommodations
We will be housing dinos at the Inner Harbour Hyatt Place, and have reserved 25 two-bed rooms at a group rate of $115. Call and mention the Johns Hopkins Debate Tournament or follow the online booking link below. Rooms will be held until August 26th, so you are encouraged to book ASAP.

Our team is very small and as a result, we have a very limited supply of crash housing and cannot guarantee crash housing to everyone who requests it. Please contact us as soon as possible with details if you require crash housing at , which will be allocated on a need-based basis.
Registration
Registration is due by midnight on August 27th. We will fine you an additional $50 if you fail to register on time. Please email with the following information:
- Team information (team name, names of members, varsity/novice status)
- Names of judges (varsity/dino status) and contact info (email and phone number) for each
- Dietary restrictions
- Housing requirements
