According to the Circular of“2011 Cheung Kong Scholar Award Program” Candidate’sDeclaration of Ministry of Education, the Central Conservatory of Music decides to sincerely invite professors as the Cheung Kong scholars distinguished professor and chair professor both from China and abroad for 3-year term. Welcome high-level talentsto the Central Conservatory of Music. Now the concerned issues are as follows:

Composition, Orchestral conductor, Instrumental performance, Vocal performance.
Responsibilities
Responsibility of distinguished professor:
1, Teaching the core curriculum and supervising young teachers, graduate and doctoral students of your ownsubject.
2, With accurately mastering the developing direction of your own subject, you should advance some strategic, forward looking and creative research plan and lead your own subject to catch up with even exceed the international advanced level.
3, Aiming at the national strategy demands and international advanced science and technology development trends, you should actively shoot for taking charge of the national important scientific research programs. And in order to make some outstanding achievements in your own subjects, you should try your best to do some innovative research on important theory and practice and tackle key problems in your own subject.
4, According to subject characteristics and demands of subject development, you should try your best to establish and lead an excellent creative academic team to do teaching and scientific research.
Responsibility of chair professor:
1, Conducting some lectures or courses on advanced area of your own subject and supervising or co-supervisingyoung teachers, graduate and doctoral students.
2, With giving some advice on developing direction and major point of research of your own subject, you should drive this subject to catch up with the international advanced level.
3, Aiming at the national strategy demands and international advanced science and technology development trends, you should actively participate into establishing an international and creative academic team.
4, Promoting actively the communication and cooperation among the conservatories and universities and other academic institutions in China and abroad.
Requirements
Requirements for distinguished professor:
1, As of January 1 of the year of application, the applicants of Humanities and social science fields shouldn’t be over 55 years old.
2, Generally speaking, the applicants should have doctoral degrees and teaching experience, be active in teaching and scientific research.The foreign applicants should be assistant professor of famous university or in relevant position at least. And the native applicants should be professors or in relevant position at least.
3, Should be competent for teaching task of core curriculum.With profound scientific attainments,the applicant should have made some recognized achievements on scientific research of his own subject.With innovating and strategic thought on subject construction, the applicant should be able to lead your own subject to catch up with even exceed the international advanced level.With collectivism and dedicated and dashing spirit, the applicants should have relevant organizing, managing and leading capability, be good at leading a creative group to tackle key problems through cooperation.
4, Abide by the code of ethics for teachers in the institutions of higher education, with hard working and dedicated spirit.
5, The applicant should assure that he/she could work full time in the Central Conservatory of Music for one year after signing the contract of appointment.
Requirements for chair professor:
1,With experience of working abroad in the front line of teaching and scientific research, the applicant should be professor famous university or in relevant position at least.
2, With profound scientific attainments and international influence in his own research area, the applicant should have made some international recognized achievements on scientific research in his own subject.
3, Honest and trustworthy, rigorous style of study, delight in giving, and advocating the spirit of science.
4, The applicant should assure that he could work in the Central Conservatory of Music for over 2 moths a year.
Other conditions:
The applicant who has achieved the support from the national“thousands of people plan” creative talents long-term or short-term project is not included in this program.
Measures
Necessary materials:
Written Application
1, Detailed resume and achievements on study and research.
2, Recommendation letters from professors in the same field of study(at least three copies).
3, The applicant should fill in the Recommendation Table of Cheung Kong Scholars Distinguished Professors Candidates or Cheung Kong Scholars Chair Professors Candidates (these two tables could be downloaded from The table must be printed automaticallyby the special application software. And the applicant is forbidden to change content of the table.
The attachments should include:
1, Catalogueof the attachments (page number must be marked).
2, Copy of certifications for all the scientific research programs, prizes and patents listed inthe recommendation table.
3, Copy of 5 important creative papers and their relevant magazine covers and catalogues, covers and catalogues of other representative works and the first page of other papers listed in the table.
4, Original Certification signed by relevant organizations of papers in the tables embodied by SCI、EI、SSCI、CSSCI and referred by others (Indexed and referenced papers search report only).
5, The Certification of important posts the candidate held either in China or abroad.
6, Certification for the post in international academic conferences and the copies ofkeynote speech, the invitations or notices for making speech in the conferences.
Procedure of selection:
1,The Central Conservatory of Music will organizeReview Committees for different posts,which are composed of well-known professors in the same field of study. The committees will do strict review according to the requirements.
2, According to the advice from the Review Committees and application limitation, we will choose the best as the recommendatory candidate and negotiate with him/her to make sure the support measures according to some relevant requirements.
3, Ministry of Education will separately authorize the Science and Technology Committee and Consulting Committee of Humane Studies and Social Science of the Ministry of Education to make a critical examination and appraisal of the plan for post setting and the recommendatory candidates. At last these candidates will be submitted to Cheung Kong Scholars Appointment Advising Team which is composed of many renowned professors for further examination.
4, Ministry of Education will declare the candidates who have passed the above examinations. If there is no objection after two weeks, the Central Conservatory of Music would sign employment contract and working task agreement with these distinguished or chair professors which would be reported to Ministry of Education for records.
Payment and Conditions
1, The employment period for distinguished or chair professors is 3 years.
2,Distinguished professor will enjoy the equal salary and welfare with equal-class professors of the conservatory. Meanwhile, he/she will also enjoy 100 thousand Yuan Distinguished Professor subsidy of Cheung Kong Scholarsand another 100 thousand Yuan post allowance of the conservatory every year.Chair Professor will enjoy 15 thousand Yuan Chair Professor subsidyof Cheung Kong Scholarsand another 10 thousand Yuan post allowance of the conservatory every month according to their working hours.
3, The conservatory will help and assist the employed professors toapply for all kinds of research funds and providerelevant funds to distinguished professorsfor their scientific research work within 3years if their research plan has passed the review.
* Other treatment is open to negotiation.
