WelcomeThe Bobcat Swim Club and the Ohio University Department of Recreation are pleased to host
the BSC Summer Splash. This meet offers another opportunity for swimmers in Central Ohio, as
well as teams throughout Ohio and surrounding states, to compete in a long course meet prior
to the championship portion of the season.

The most current meet information, including changes to warm-up times and program changes,
will be posted on the Bobcat Swim Club website at Following the

EligibilityAll swimmers must be registered athlete members of USA Swimming. USA Swimming registration will not be accepted at the meet. A swimmer’s age on Saturday, June 17, 2017 shall determine eligibility for each age group division.

There are no time standards for this meet.

Any swimmer entered in the meet, must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.

Swimmers with disabilities are welcome to enter this meet. Please notify the Entry Chair whenemailing entries. We will provide any necessary accommodations for that athlete.

Course &The meet will be swum in long course meters. 8 competition lanes will be used for all sessions.

Format

Meet Management will run “flyover” starts to ensure the running time of the meet stays within limits required by Ohio Swimming.

Rule BookUSA Swimming and Ohio Swimming 2017 rules and regulations will govern the meet.

Athlete PrivacyIn compliance with USA Swimming Rules & Regulations the use of audio or visual

Preservationrecording devices, including a cell phone, is NOT permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms. Under no circumstances are cameras or any other recording devices allowed in the area immediately behind the starting blocks at either end of the racing course(s) while they are in use for race starts during the competition and warm-up. Please refer to the Safe Sport section of the Ohio Swimming, Inc. policies and procedures for further information regarding the use of visual recording devices.

Deck changes are prohibited.

There will be no lane assignments for warm-up. Warm-up will be combined girls & boys.

The last 15 minutes of each session will have designated one-way sprint lanes. Additional lanes may be opened upon requestby coaches to the Meet Director.

Warm-up and start times are tentative and may be changed by Meet Managementdepending on the number of swimmers entered in the meet. Please visit the Bobcat SwimClub website on or after Thursday, June 17thfor final warm-up and start times.

It is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for

damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event.

Warm-upOhio LSC Swimming Safety Guidelines and Warm-up Procedures will be in effect at the meet.

ProceduresSwimmers must enter the water feet-first, in a cautious manner, with one hand in contact with the pool edge, except in lanes that have been cleared and specifically declared one-way sprintlanes by the Meet Director. The Meet Director reserves the right to revise warm-up proceduresto ensure the safety of the swimmers.

Marshalls will be present at all times to manage the warm-up and warm-down lanes. Warm-up procedures will be strictly enforced (see Ohio Safety)

EntryA swimmer may enter up to five (5) individual events per day, plus relays.

Limitations

EntriesEntries must be submitted electronically in Hy-Tek format via email to the Meet Director by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.

A hard copy of the entries (generated from Hy-Tek), along with the Entry Summary Sheet (attached) and the USA Swimming Membership Verification Form (attached) must be mailedto the Entry Chair prior to the start of the meet.

Deck EntriesDeck entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Meet Director, if space permits, on a first-come, first-serve basis. No heats will be added to accommodate deck entries.

Deck entry fees are $10 for individual events and $16 for relay events. Fees must be paid by cash or check at thehead table. Swimmers must present proof of USA Swimming membership to deck-enter anevent, unless already entered into the meet.

USA Swimming registrations will NOT be accepted at the meet. All swimmers must be current

members of USA Swimming prior to the meet.

Positive Check-inThere will be no positive check-in required for this meet.

Deck AccessCoaches should be able to present their credentials at the request of meet personnel, and coaches are asked to sign in at the table located next to the head table before every session. A coach will not be permitted on deck without proof of current USA Swimming membership.

Concussion All coaches and referees will be required to show proof that he/she has completed the required

Trainingconcussion training course. Meet personnel will ask for proof of completion of the course.

BullpenA bullpen will be used for all 10 & under events, excluding relays. We ask that coaches assist usby reminding their swimmers that they must report to the bullpen prior to each of their races.

AwardsHeat winner ribbons will be awarded for all 10 & underevents.

Custom ribbons will be awarded to the top 8 finishers in each event.

Awards will be distributed to club representatives at the conclusion of the competition. Awardsremaining at the end of the meet will NOT be forwarded by mail unless previously arrangedby the head coach of that club and the meet director.

ResultsComplete meet results and Hy-Tek back-up files will be posted on the Bobcat Swim Club websitewithin 24 hours of the conclusion of the meet.

OfficialsPlease provide the names and contact information of any interested officials from your team tothe Meet Referee by June 15, 2016. We will contact those individuals directly. Thank you inadvance for your help!

VolunteersA large number of volunteers are needed in order for our meet to run smoothly. We will be working with several student organizations on campus but will also need help from visiting teams to help as timers. All teams with 10 swimmers or more entered in the meet must provide 2 timers for each session.

VenueThe Ohio University Aquatic Center is a 10 lane, 50-meter facility with an automated Colorado timing system. The competition will take place in Lanes 1 through 8. Lane 9 will be used by officials, while Lane 10 will be used as a warm-up/warm down lane.

The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4).

SpectatorsAmple spectator seating is available on the second level of the Aquatic Center. The stairwayis located through double doors to the right immediately after entering the building. Wheelchair/handicap viewing is available from the pool deck. Please contact Meet Management concerning this issue. No other parent or spectator will be allowed on the pool deck during the meet for any reason.

There will be no admission fees for this meet.

ConcessionsHeat sheets and concessions will be available. Signs will be posted at various locations around the facility to indicate where items can be purchased.

LodgingA complete list of hotels and other lodging accommodations can be found on the BSC website. We encourage all teams and families to make reservations well in advance of the meet to ensure that options are available. If hotels are not available due to other events happening in the Athens area, we encourage you to look into several other locations (see website).
