MEXICAN METH NETWORK DISMANTLED BY MULTI-AGENCY INVESTIGATION
A multi-agency investigation has shut down a large drug network supplying Mexican-sourced methamphetamine into Tulsa. At 5:00 this morning, agents and officers from several departments executed 3 Search Warrants and 47 Arrest Warrants for defendants accused of trafficking significant quantities of methamphetamine into Tulsa. Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) Spokesman Mark Woodward says the multi-agency investigation began 8 months ago.
“In August of 2012, several agencies began working together to
identify a major meth trafficking network operating in Tulsa.
This group of defendants would import several pounds
of crystal methamphetamine or ‘ICE’ into Tulsa on a weekly
basis to supply local street dealers and users.”

Woodward says the primary targets of this investigation had ties to Mexican cartel sources, shipping as much as 260 pounds of meth from Mexico into Tulsa over the past 4 years. The investigation involved OBN, the Tulsa Police Department, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. OBN Director Darrell Weaver says he is very pleased that law enforcement in a joint effort has dismantled a major source of methamphetamine in the Tulsa area.
“Today with the cooperation of Federal, county and local law enforcement we dismantled a group of violators responsible for supplying multiple pounds of
meth in Tulsa. I applaud brave law enforcement for putting their lives on the
line every day to combat these ones that are bent on destroying Oklahoma
lives while pocketing their seedy profits. We must continue to have great
resolve against these individuals!”
---Darrell Weaver, OBN Director
As of noon today, 21 defendants were in custody. Assisting with the Arrest Warrants today include OBN, Tulsa P.D., Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office. All of the defendants are being booked into the Tulsa County jail. They face a variety of charges, including Trafficking of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (methamphetamine).
