Virginia State Board Meeting Minutes
September 25th, 2015
· Meeting called to order, Steve Garman (Members in Attendance – Joe Gamma, Tim Mengering, Cheryl Johnson, Wendy Hylton, Melanie Cuozzo, Lindsey La Roche, Erin Berry Sams, Diane Berry, and Anne Foster)
· State Board Election & Positions – 2 Nominations (Donnie Yarros – Capital & Rachael Heard – Paragon) – Election process will begin in October.
· Xcel Program
o Way to manage size – the built in limitation – space in the gyms for more Xcel athletes
o No qualifying score
o Awards given at the state meet – 40% of age division for event & AA
o Xcel State Meet will be held on Hampton Convention Center through 2020
· State Meet Awards – 1st Place ties will all be awarded Gold Medals
· Compulsory, Optional & Overall Team Score Calculations – Board agreed to this change for 2016:
o 12 points for 1st place, 10 points for 2nd place
o 8 points – 3rd, 7 points – 4th, 6 points – 5th, 5 points – 6th, 4 points – 7th, 3 points – 8th, 2 points – 9th, 1 point – 10th
· State Gift to Athletes – Board agreed to continue
· Individual Event Specialist (IES) – Board agreed to include Level 8
o Qualifying score – 8.5
o Declaration Date – February 15th, 2016
· Electronic Meet Results and Sanction Return – Still mail check
· Reviewed New R&P Information
· Judges were selected and approved by board members for Regional and State Meets
o 2 Judge Panels for Level 9 & 10 State Meet
o 4 Judge Panels for Level 8 State Meet
· State Meet Entry – same procedure as last season; Regional Meets will use Meet Maker
· Qualifying Score – same as last season – Approved by board members
· Financial Report was discussed
