Employee Referral Application and Guidelines / Rev: F

The Employee Referral Program is designed to encourage PB employees to identify suitable friends, associates and former co-workers for employment vacancies with PB. Eligible employees may receive an incentive of $5,000 gross paymentfor the referral and subsequent employment to permanent administrative, technical and professional positions.

Guidelines

  • All permanent employees, fixed term contractors and eligible casuals can participate, with the exception of the following:

Directors, General Managers, Executives, Section Managers/Team Managers, Regional Directors, Regional People Advisors and the Resourcing team staff.

An eligible casual is defined as a person who has been employed by PB on a regular and systematic basis over a continuous period of at least 12 months, and who has a reasonable expectation of continuing employment with PB

In-house contractors are eligible to participate in the program and are required to invoice PB to the gross value of $5,000for referral per these guidelines.

  • The referring employee should send the applicant’s resume and the Employee Referral Application form to the local Resourcing Specialist where there may be a suitable permanent vacancy. For the referral to be valid, a completed referral form must accompany each resume submitted.
  • PB will then initiate contact with the candidate. The candidate must be external to PB, and not already have been employed by PB or applied for a position or been put forward for the position by a recruitment consultant/headhunter.
  • If the applicant is hired, the Employee Referral Application form will be approved and signed by the National Resourcing Executive (NRE) who will send it to payroll for processing.
  • A payment will be made through payroll, subject to normal payroll deductions, after the referred employee has successfully completed their three months probationary period provided the following criteria are met:

the referred applicant is still employed as a permanent employee

the employee who made the referral is still employed by PB.

  • Candidate referrals expire 12 months from the date of submission. If the referring employee wishes to continue referring the person they must submit a new referral form.
  • An Australia–Pacific wide barrel draw will take place annually for all people who have successfully referred candidates, with a prize of $5,000 gross payment.

Suggested sources of potential recruits

In addition to friends and former colleagues, potential recruits can be identified through networking at conferences, seminars, workshops, client meetings and meetings of professional associations. When attending these events:

  • identify the talented or highly capable people in your field, whether it be technical,
    project management or business development
  • talk to people and ask what type of work they are currently doing (and subtly) what they think of their current work/employer
  • collect business cards of those you talk to and write down additional details
  • obtain attendance lists at seminars and conferences
  • identify participants at training courses who may be interested in opportunities with PB.
