Corneal Scraping Procedure Handout

Technique ►

Agar plates are inoculated by lightly

streaking both sides of the sterile

spatula over the surface to produce

a row of separate inoculation marks,

“C“ streaks. Do not penetrate the

agar.

Inoculate the corneal scrapings onto plates and slide in the following order:

Deliver culture to Microbiology immediately. If lab is closed (hours listed below) place kit in the 35ºC incubator located in the vestibule at the laboratory entrance.
