Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why does my CareMobile Device’s screen go dark if I’m not using it? The Device’s screen will automatically dim after a predetermined time to preserve battery life. Tap the screen to restore the backlight.
2. Why does the device revert to the sign-in screen requiring me to reenter my password if I’m not using it for awhile? For security purposes, the application will ‘time out’ after a predetermined period of time if the device is not in use. After you have reentered your password, you will be returned to the original screen before the device timed out. You will not lose any unsigned documentation. Please note that if you are in the process of documenting when the device times out and another user logs onto the same device, your pending documentation will be lost!
3. What is the meaning of “Due” versus “Overdue” Tasks, and what are all the other Task folders for? For the moment, CareMobile is being used to document only “PRN” Patient Care Tasks. Because there are no designated times associated with these tasks, they cannot be identified as coming due within a designated period of time. Similarly, PRN Patient Care Tasks will never become ‘Overdue’ if not completed. In the future, CareMobile will also be used for the bedside documentation of medication administration, and these folders will become relevant.
4. If my password is changed for PowerChart, will it be changed for CareMobile as well? Yes, your password for CareMobile will always be the same as your PowerChart password.
5. Does the device need to be ‘docked’ (returned to its cradle) for the documented information to flow to PowerChart? No, the information is transmitted wirelessly in real time; the cradle is only for recharging the battery on the CareMobile device.
6. Do I have to scan my badge when logging into CareMobile? No, you may manually enter your Username (again, the same Username for PowerChart).
7. How do I clean the CareMobile Device? The Symbol MC70 (CareMobile) Device should be wiped down when needed with Alcohol Wipes and/or Virox solution. For complete cleaning instructions, refer to documentation on the unit.
8. How long will the battery last before the device needs recharging? These devices have been equipped with an extended battery which should last at least six hours before needing recharging, depending upon frequency of use. There will be an on-screen warning when the battery level is getting low. Remember to sign all documentation before returning the device to the cradle for recharging!
9. Why do I keep accidentally exiting from the application when I am just trying to close a screen? On some screens (such as the Patient Demographics screen) there is a “Close” button at the bottom which must be used to exit the screen. Clicking on the ‘X’ in the top right corner will cause you to exit the CareMobile application entirely.
9. What do I do in the event that the device freezes? There should be enough devices on the unit such that there will always be a device available upon which to document. Put a note on the device to caution others that the device is not functioning properly and call the Help Desk (6074) during business hours. If necessary, you can reboot the device by pressing the On/Off button with the stylus and holding it down for 3 to 4 seconds. When the main screen appears, click on ‘Start’ (top left of the screen) and select ‘Millennium Mobile” from the drop down menu. This will bring up the sign-in screen. Please note that any unsigned form will be lost and you will need to repeat the documentation on that form!
