Describe why this happened during World War I.
2. What was Trench Warfare? Describe a soldier’s experiences in the Trenches (ie: German, French, etc.). What was a “normal day” like? Find a diary or journal entry of a soldier who endured such fighting. In detail, describe what they dealt with (in terms of weather, disease, food, etc.).

REFLECTION:
When referring to the area between trenches, soldiers of World War I called it “no man’s land.” Why do you think they described that area in such a way?
Based upon your findings, how is this war different from any other that the world had seen? Think about the new machinery, propaganda, role of women, methods of fighting, etc.
