7v7 (Under 9 and 10) outdoor match Rules

The games will be played as per FIFA Laws of the Game with the following modifications:

Law 1 – The field of Play:

When play is on a subdivided regulation field, or when proper permanent nets are not available, Flex-Nets are to be used where possible. Flex-Nets are stored at Clairlea Park Church, in the small outside storage shed. Where Flex-Nets are not available, then pylons or markers, duly spaced six (6) yards apart, shall be used as goals or goal posts.

Law 2 – The Ball:

The size of ball shall be size four (4).

Law 3 – The number of players:

The match shall be played by two teams each consisting of seven (7) players, one whom shall be the goalkeeper. A match may not start if either team consists of fewer than five (5) players. Teams will be allowed a 15-minute grace period to field the minimum number of players before forfeiting the game.

In the event a team cannot field seven (7) players but has at least the five (5) players, then the opposing team must field the exact same number of players.

LAW 6 – The assistant referee:

There shall be no Assistant Referees provided and linespersons are not required.

Law 7 – The duration of the Match:

Under 9 and 10 – matches will consist of two (2) x thirty (30) minute halves with a five (5) minute break at halftime.

The convenor may revise the duration before the start of the match to allow for four (4) x fifteen (15) minutes quarters during times of extreme heat conditions.

The convenor or referee may shorten House league matches if playing time is restricted by bad weather, darkness, or other unforeseen circumstances. Both coaches must be consulted, but the final decision rests with the convenor or referee.

Law 10 – Method of Scoring:

Where pylons or markers are used as goal posts a goal maybe disallowed if, in the opinion of the referee, the ball is so high in the air as to be impossible for the goalkeeper to make the save. The referee’s decision is final and no appeal will be entertained.

Law 11 – Offside:

As per FIFA.

Law 13 – Free Kicks: Conform to FIFA with the exception that opponents of the team taking the kick -off are at least six (6) yards from the ball until it is play.

Law 14 – Penalty Kicks: Conform to FIFA with the exception the penalty mark is at eight (8) yards and that Players other than the kicker and the defending goalkeeper are at least eight (8) yards from the penalty mark.

7v7 (Under 9 and 10) outdoor match Rules (continued)

Club 5 MINUTE Rule—EQUAL PLAYING TIME:

The spirit of this rule is that winning should NOT take precedence over the development of young soccer players, nor their enjoyment in playing organized soccer. The first rule is that every player should have fun playing soccer.

The CWSC insists on equal playing time for all players regardless of their playing abilities.

In this regard the club has decided to initiate the 5 minute rule in all house league mini-soccer games,

(U5 to U10 for 2009).

The referee will blow the whistle to stop the game (approximately) every 5 minutes, to allow a change of players. The players on the field when the whistle blows, must come off the field, and be replaced by those players who have not played during the previous 5 minute period. (This includes the goalkeeper)

The referees will be instructed not to blow the whistle for a player change until the ball is out of play, or in neutral territory, to avoid taking away a goal scoring opportunity.

The only exception to this rule will be when a team does not have enough players present, (due to vacation or injury), to have a complete change of players, in which case the spirit of the rule will still apply and all players shall be given equal time during each game.
