The working week is allocated equally between the two areas of expertise, so very able and competent to switch between the two roles. Experience
- Helped with training and support for team members, when a new IT system was implemented within Staffordshire County Council in September 2013.
- Managing a caseload within the Deputyship and DoLS Team, that from the last financial year’s figures (13/14), broke even on the budget with income that they generated from Deputyship casework.
- Experience of both informal and formal staff supervision.
- Excellent knowledge of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Code of Practice.
Current role
Joined the Deputyship and DoLS Team within Staffordshire County Council in June 2011as a DoLS Administrator. Offered a secondment as a Supervising Deputyship Officer in Oct 2013, supervising three members of staff.The responsibility of the administration of DoLS Requests, Further Authorisations, Reviews and Unauthorised Deprivations in conjunction with the DoLS Code of Practice. Provide support and liaise with Managing Authorities. Commission Best Interest Assessors, Mental Health Assessors and IMCA's (when required). Ensure that appropriate Best Interest Assessor cover is available at all times by planning and supervising the rota's. Arrange meetings and training sessions for the Best Interest Assessors. Collate, produce and distribute National, Regional and Internal DoLS statistics on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
Manage a Deputyship caseload, ensuring that all priorities are dealt with in a timely manner, for example invoices paid, personal allowance sent and paperwork for the OPG/Court of Protection completed as requested within the set timescale.
