Purpose of the role:

To manage the student placement programmes ensuring students are able to meet the necessary practice requirements for their specific training programmes.

Main areas of responsibility:

-To manage the planning of student placements across a range of courses to meet the requirements of the appropriate training programme.

-To liaise with lecturers and personnel within placement areas and other external agencies to ensure that required placements are organised within agreed timescales.

-To ensure that information regarding placements is communicated within agreed timescales to the relevant parties including students, personnel within placement areas and school personnel as appropriate.

-To be responsive to changes and cancellations, liaising with appropriate personnel to ensure that appropriate alternative placements are identified, arranged and communicated as required.

-To regularly highlight anticipated shortages of placements making, temporary, alternative arrangements for affected students and notifying appropriate school personnel.

-To maintain student sickness/absence records and generate and distribute regular reports as appropriate.

-To develop, implement and maintain accurate database and record systems to track student progress ensuring the retrieval of up-to-date information for management information and statistical purposes.

-To generate documentation for the statutory bodies as required.

  • To provide support for the School Administrative Management Team in relation to specific administrative functions.

-To undertake general administrative tasks as required.

-To service cross-school committees and ad hoc meetings as required.

-To assist with projects or development initiatives as appropriate.

-To maintain currency with all aspects of school and university policy and practice undertaking training/updates as appropriate.

-To share and promote good practice within the wider administrative team.

  • Any appointment is generally made at the bottom of the salary range for the grade dependent upon experience and previous salary.
  • This is a part time post and is fixed term to cover maternity leave.
  • Annual leave entitlements are shown in the table below and increase after 5 years’ service. In addition, to the eight Bank Holidays, there are university discretionary days between Christmas and New Year. All leave, including bank holidays and discretionary days, are pro-rated for part time employees.
