SOLICITATION FOR CALIFORNIA
RTAP ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The California Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) program is funded by the California Department of Transportation through a grant from the Federal Transit Administration to provide training, continuing education and technical assistance resources to rural, private nonprofit and Tribal transit providers. CalAct is soliciting nominations to serve on the RTAP advisory committee, which representsFTA Section 5310, 5311, andfederally funded tribal transit agencies. The advisory committee will meet four times per year to recommend training topics, review training programs and materials for the RTAP program. The committee will also evaluate and make recommendations on the training material and strategies that are provided through RTAP. Examples include:conferences, training programs, web based training and curriculum, RTAP policies and procedures,make recommendations on how to identify and meet the training needs statewide, and other exciting transit-related activities.
If you are interested in serving on the committee or know of someone that would be a great resource as a committee member, please nominate them. Caltrans would like CalAct to recruit geographical and agency specific representatives to serve on the committee. Members from the following areas are being sought:
- Tribal Transit
- Rural Transportation Planning Agency Representatives or Metropolitan Planning Organizations that are operating transit systems in rural areas.
- A private operator providing transit services under contract with a rural transit operator.
- Non-profit transit providers.
Rural Transit operators from the following geographic regions:
- Northern California
- Central California
- Central Coast of California (Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara counties)
- Southern California
- At Large State Representation
A nominating committee will review submissions and make recommendations in conjunction with Caltrans Division of Mass Transportation. Candidates will be contacted to confirm eligibility and interest in participating on the committee.
Specific criteria for selection include:
- Eligibility in one of the areas identified above.
- Years of experience in the rural transit industry.
- Specialized expertise in rural transit issue areas.
- Specialized expertise in training and/or technical assistance.
- Experience serving on an advisory board or subcommittee that developed or evaluated training and technical assistance materials.
- Experience with peer-to-peer technical assistance.
- Experience with applications, contracts and grant reporting.
