We have a very busy last few weeks left of Term 2 with lots of activities affecting pupils of all stages from Nursery to P7. So, please take a note of the times and events affecting your child.
Pantomime
This year our Nursery and P1 – P3 will have a visit from M&M productions in school on Monday 7th December, 9.30am – 10.30am. M&M will present the pantomime Cinderella.
Our P4-7 pupils will visit the Palace Theatre to see Mother Goose on the afternoon of Monday 7th December. There will be an early lunch at 12pm. The performance starts at 1.30pm and we expect the buses to return at approximately 4.30pm.
On arrival back at school, the children will be taken back to their classrooms and dismissed in an orderly and safe fashion by their teachers. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Christmas Lunch
Our Christmas Lunch will take place on Tuesday 15th December. Please note there will be no snack lunches available on that day.
Nursery/P1 Nativity
Our Nursery and P1 children are very busy practising for their Nativity this year. Please refer to the letter that has been given to pupils concerning different dates and times for parents/carers, friends and family to come and enjoy the story of Christmas!
Christmas Parties
You will find Christmas Party dates on the last page of the newsletter. If your child is going home for lunch to get changed on the day of the party can you please inform your child’s class teacher by writing a short note. Thank you.
Christmas Jumper Day
Christmas Jumper Day is Friday 18th December. If pupils would like to participate they can wear a Christmas Jumper on the day and bring some loose change to donate to ‘Save the Children’.
Christmas Service
Our Christmas Service will be in Castlehill Church on Wednesday 23rd December at 9.45am. Our choirs will sing and our nursery and P1 pupils will perform their Nativity. The service will be led by Christine Stewart who is standing in for Liz Crumblish. Mrs Stewart has visited staff at the school and is keen to be involved in school life here at Forehill.
Baby news
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Neil on the arrival of their baby twin boys. Both mum and babies are doing well!
Staffing
Mr Watson would like to thank everyone for their get well wishes, cards and presents – they have really cheered him up. Mr Watson is now able to be ‘out and about’ as he recuperates. Mr Watson will be back at school sometime in January and this will be on a phased return.
We welcome Miss Hail to our Forehill team. Miss Hail has taken over as class teacher in P3M.
Miss McGregor has secured a permanent teaching post in East Ayrshire and she will leave Forehill at the Christmas break. We wish her good luck in her new post.
Following a successful interview Mrs Livingstone is moving to Monkton Primary as Acting Depute Head Teacher after the Christmas break. We are delighted for Mrs Livingstone and her promotion but we are all going to miss her so much!
Children In Need
Thank you to everyone who donated cakes for our bake sale for Children in Need. The day was a huge success with pupils enjoying dressing up and buying cakes and wrist bands. Mrs Carswell and the pupil council worked tirelessly before and during the event to ensure it was a big success. Forehill Primary raised £1056.83! An amazing amount!!! A big thank you to Mrs Fulton who donated Pudsey goodies and helped on the day. And a big thank you to Mrs Gray and Suzi (Lollipop Lady) for helping out on the cake stall too.
Parking
Can I please remind all parents and carers that the disabled spaces in the school car park are for blue badge owners only. I would also ask that this message is passed onto any friends and relatives who may be picking up children from school. I thank you for your understanding with this.
Winter Weather
As the colder weather approaches and rainy days are more frequent I would ask that children, particularly on wet mornings arrive at school just in time for the bell at 9am. Unfortunately, supervision before 9am is limited and access to the school building for pupils is from 8.55am. I thank you for your support with this.
School Lunches
Can all school lunch money please be brought to school in a secured envelope with your child’s name and class labelled clearly on the front. Thank you!
From time to time, some parents ask how they can find out how much money their children have in their lunch account. Mrs Keenan is happy to provide this information for you. Should you have any questions about school lunches you are welcome to call Mrs Keenan, Catering Supervisor on 01292 289075.
Primary 1 Registration
Registration for children due to start Primary 1 in Agust 2016 will take place in Forehill Primary on Tuesday 19th January between 8.45am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm.
Birth certificates and proof of address must be presented. I would be grateful if you could pass on this information to anyone you know who has a child ready to begin school in August 2016.

Football Team
More success for Forehill last week – our football team won their match against Girvan Primary 5 – 1. Well done – a super achievement!!
Staff News
It is not only our pupils who celebrate achievements out with school but staff too! Congratulations to Mr Dailly, Mr McDowall, Mrs Zorget and Mrs McDowall who ran 10km at Glasgow Green recently to support the charity Movember!! Well done to you all!!
Outstanding People Awards
Congratulations to Mrs Galloway and Mr Watson who were both nominated for a South Ayrshire Outstanding People Award for all the work they do and the support they give to pupils within Forehill Primary. The nominations are from people out with the immediate school community so it is really great to know that visitors to our school are recognising the good qualities staff at Forehill Primary have.
Heartstart
Mrs Baines collected a Heart Start recognition achievement on behalf of Forehill Primary School. It is recognised that staff and pupils as young as P2 have been trained in Heart Start. The number of pupils in the school being trained is growing. At the time of receiving the recognition award Forehill Primary had 198 pupils trained in Emergency Life Support. It is a great life skill for our pupils to have at such a young age. Mrs Baines has been the driver behind implementing Heart Start.
Netball Coach
We are delighted that our netball coach Debbie McVeigh has been awarded the South Ayrshire Active Schools Volunteer of the Month Award for volunteering at Forehill Primary school as netball coach for over the last 10 years. We are so proud of Debbie and the teams achievements over the last 10 years and we are very appreciative of Debbie’s time and effort that she has put into all the netball teams she has coached at Forehill.
Well Done Debbie – a very well deserved award!
*We love to hear about achievements within and out with school. Please let us know about your child’s achievements!
