Purpose: This course is intended for academicians and laboratory personnel involved in teaching food microbiology, and training food microbiologists and laboratory technicians. The principal objective of the course is to train-the-trainer, so that persons attending will teach the microbiological methods used by such major testing authorities as the U.S. FDA in the classrooms and laboratories of their respective countries. The FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) and Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) in collaboration with the UPR, Department of Food Science, are providing the scientific leadership for this training.
No. Students: 20 participants
Each country may send at least 2 representatives. Any spaces remaining may be
distributed to other interested countries. However, all participants must be highly proficient in the language and have knowledge of microbiology techniques. Translators will not be present during the course.
Funding: FDA will provide funding for air travel, hotel accommodations, and per diem. Persons selected for the training will receive detailed information on travel, hotel, and per diem.
Registration Fee: There is no registration fee
Registration: Can only be performed through the Ministry of Health or Agriculture at each country. Professionals interested have to contact Ministry of Health or Agriculture.
