Clothing Event for Retsil - A BIG thank you to Jan's family who donated most of the clothing for this event. The ladies loved the many choices they had this time. Julie, Sally, Juanita, Mary and Kathy had a great time interacting with the residents who visited the 2nd Ladies Shopping Event at Retsil on July 14th. We saw former shoppers and met new ones. Even more men came to visit and "shop" and asked if we had things for them, so we are going to talk in Sept. about doing a joint event for both the ladies and the men sometime late fall. After the event we all enjoyed a nice and relaxing lunch at Everybody's Cookhouse. Thanks to those who helped by gathering, sorting and supporting this worthwhile project. Thanks to Brandi at Retsil for her help and support. PS We even got popcorn brought to us by one of the workers. Clothing not selected was distributed around the community to help others in need. A total amount will be reported in Sept.

Congress makes critical decisions in determining access and affordability for health care services for each and every family. It is time for Congress to work in a bipartisan manner to improve the Affordable Care Act to ensure quality and affordability of medical and mental health care services, prohibit discrimination for pre-existing conditions, prohibit gender discrimination in insurance rating and medical research, and prohibit lifetime caps.
GFWC-WS Fall Board will be September 22 -24 in Yakima.

Bremerton Backpack Brigade – Here is a message from them, if you are interested in helping them.
Since we nearly emptied our pantry into the backpacks sent out at the end of last school year, the first order of business is to get it restocked. To get a jump start on this process, we'll be holding a food drive at Fred Meyer, in Bremerton, on Saturday, August 19th, from 9 to 4.
We need a lot of volunteers to each take a two hour shift at some point during that day. If this is a way you can help the Brigade get food to hungry kids, please respond to this email (or call me at 360.471.9588) to get scheduled for a shift that day, convenient to your schedule.
This is a family friendly event, feel free to bring your children, Sunday school class, book study group, scout troop, friends, fellow club members, whoever. They are all welcome!
The Brigade also needs new or gently used backpacks to sent food home. If this is a way you might want to help, please bring your donated backpack(s) to Fred Meyers anytime during the food drive.
