Notes:

  1. Test scores must be deemed valid and students with test results which are deemed too old to be valid (as per UKVI and University requirements) may be required to re-take a relevant test.
  1. English language qualifications will always be verified with the awarding body wherever possible. If verification is not possible you may be asked to supply original documents or possibly an alternative English language qualification if we have concerns about the documentation provided.
  1. Please note that your English language ability will be assessed from your most recent English language test or qualification, older tests will be disregarded even if they show a higher score
  1. This table represents the English language requirements that differ from our standard English language requirements for degree level study at Plymouth University and Plymouth University International College (PUIC). It incorporates UKVI (Home Office) minimum English Language scores and requirements where appropriate, and is accurate at the time of publication (November 2016) but may be subject to change at any time.
  1. Other qualifications of an equal standard / level attained may be considered – please enquire upon application
  1. If you do not meet these requirements you may be able to join one of our pre-sessional courses – please see for more information. Please ensure you check on application that our pre-sessional courses will satisfy these higher entry requirements, as in some cases professional accreditation or a higher programme entry requirement means that only an IELTS score is acceptable.
  1. Please note that the courses listed above are all those within Plymouth University that currently require a higher level of English Language than our standard requirement. Not all courses listed may be suitable for students who require a Tier 4 visa, if they are part time etc. You will be advised of this and their suitability upon application.
