SOFTWARE PROJECTS
· Attendance System for City University:
This project was aimed to automate attendance process of the University employees. This was a client-server based system, where clients were fixed on entrance and exit points in the premises. Employees had to scan their cards for attendance on arrival and departure. The system could tell who is on duty inside and outside of the premises and who is on leave. There were leave policies on yearly bases, schedule policies on monthly bases and the system could give details of employees pertaining hours worked, leaves, late arrival or yearly departure etc. System was developed in C#, Crystal Report™ and SQLServer™.
· Payroll for Haroon Enterprises
This project was aimed to replace payroll software that was developed in VB6 because the requirements were changed and also the system was generating errors. System was developed in C# ™ ,Crystal Report ™ and SQLServer™
· Fleet Management System for WFO Peshawar
Developed for World Food Organization Peshawar to manage food supplies to Afghanistan. This Software was aimed to computerize the fleet records containing vehicles information, drivers’ information and goods loaded on vehicles. Vehicle information includes vehicle status such as on the way and ready for trip, mileage traveled, fuel record, workshop expenditures etc. Driver information includes mileage droved, Vehicles Associated with different trips, T.A D.A etc. System was developed in VB6, Crystal Report ™ and SQLServer™
· Information System of the City University
I participated in the development of the Integrated Software package developed for City University. The software comprised of three modules, Student Information, Accounts and Exams. Tools used were C# ™, Crystal Report ™ and SQLServer™
· Website for a News Agency
This website was aimed to run on intranet to manage news on a central location. Authors could send new news, edit old news written by them and a few other features. The tools used were ASP, HTML, java script and MS Access™
· Web development at City University
I maintained and extended website of the City University. I also developed a website for Peshawar Model Educational Institutes (PMEI). The tool used were ASP, HTML, java script and MS Access™
EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS
Student Information System
My final project of MCS was a web application aimed to bring all students’ related information online. It enables students to find their results, submit assignments, send and receive messages to other university fellows, find information about their classes, exams, course outlines, dues and some other features.
Distributed Message System
The aim of this project was to apply our knowledge of distributed systems and network programming. This was client-server based architecture with a number of servers connected to clients something like yahoo messenger. Whole user base was distributed on all the servers. One of the servers was acting manager for the servers and sending them heart beat messages. If a server was failed to respond to a heartbeat message it was considered fail and removed from the server pool and user-base distribution algorithm was run. Similarly if a server do not receive a heartbeat message then manager wad considered failed and election was performed to select a new one. Multi-master full replication model was used for data. Synchronization was achieved through message among servers. The system was fully equipped with the concepts of distributed transparencies, fault tolerance and k-resilience. System was designed using Java RMI
TRAINING WORKSHOPS
Attended workshop organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan in collaboration with Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Kohat University of Science & Technology. Participants were trained in writing Self Assessment Report (SAR) to gauge the overall departmental and faculty performance. SAR is submitted to HEC on annual basis.
