1.3SEISMICDESIGNREQUIREMENTS
A.TheContractorshallconformtotheseismicdesignrequirementsforthisprojectandfor theworkofthisspecificationsection.
B.Provide all equipmentbases,anchorage,supportsand foundations designedinaccordancewiththeseismicrequirementsindicatedandspecified.
C.Additionally,provideacertificationforallequipmentsignedbyaregisteredstructuralengineerregisteredinthestatewhere covers are installed,statingthatcomputationswereperformedandthatallcomponentshavebeensizedfortheseismicforcesspecifiedandindicated.ThiscertificationisprovidedintheManufacturer'sEquipmentCertification.
1.4SUBMITTALS
A.Submit thefollowing inaccordancewithsubmittal procedures.
1.Certifiedshopanderectiondrawings.Contractorshallsubmitelectronicfilesoftheproposedequipmentinthecapacity,size, andarrangementasindicatedand specified.
a.Electronicfiles shallconformtothe following minimumrequirements:
1)ElectronicFiles:AutoCADlatestversion,drawntoscale.
2)SubmitelectronicfilesaspartoftheShopDrawingsubmittal.
3)Drawingsshallincludeplanviews, sectionalviews,titleblock,TagNumbers,PartsList(identifyingeachcomponent),dimensions,connectionsizesandtypesandalldetailsofallrelateditems.Incaseswherecertaininformationisproprietaryandisomitted,providedastatementindicatingthattheinformationisproprietaryandisbeingomitted.
4)Drawingsshallbeinconformance withallotherrequirements asspecifiedinthisspecification.
2.Methodofattachment,sizeoffastenersandweightsofeachsection
3.Shopdrawingdataforaccessoryitems.
4.Certifiedsettingplans,withtolerances,foranchorbolts.

D.Warranty:Providea one(1)yearwarranteefrommaterialandworkmanshipdefects.
E.Coordination:Covermanufacturershallcoordinatethefabricationofthecoverswiththecontractorandclarifiermanufacturerinregardstotheclarifiermechanism,scumcollection andlaunderand channelconfigurations.
F.Providethefollowingcertificatesrelatedtothesupply,installationandoperationoftheequipmentspecifiedhereinin accordancewithmanufactures certificates:

1.All systems, sub-systems and structures shall be shop fabricated and assembled into the largest practical size suitable for transporting.

2.1MANUFACTURERS

2.2COVERS
A.Providethelaundercoversconsistingofasystemofextruded aluminumpanelsthatareattachedtogethertoformacontinuouscoveroverthelaundertrough,weirandscumbafflewithinthetank.
1.Providethecoverextendingoverthetroughandweirtoapointimmediatelyinsidethescumbafflesolongasthecoverdoesnotinterferewiththesweeparm.
2.Individualsections:fittedtofollowthecurvatureofthetank.
B.Providethecoverdesigned suchthatadjacent panels fittogether and thecompletedcover,wheninstalled,formsarigid structure.
C.Providecoversdesignedandmanufactured toinhibit incidentsunlightfromstrikingthesurfacesofthelaunderandweir.
D.Covers shall have an integrated bi-directional slip resistant surface. This surface shall not be achieved by the use of paint or adhesive tapes.
E.Covers shall allow for thermal expansion and contraction
F.Provide the cover designed to open away from or towards the operator as shown on the contract drawings.
G.Covers weight shall not exceed 75 lbs. Each panel shall be easy to lift with the lifting force no greater than the dead weight of the panel.
H.Design deflectionofallstructuralmembersandcoverpanelsshallbelimitedtoU240with Lequaltotheshortspanofthecomponentswhensupportingthetotaldeadand live load conditions.
I.Provideameansoflimitingthetravelofthehingedcoversection,intheformofarestraintofType316stainlesssteelcable.
J.Coverswithinspectionhatchesorcleanoutdoorsarenotacceptable.
K.Providecoverstosupportthecoverinsuchamannerthatthepanelsareheldinplace,withthepanelshingedtoprovideaccess tothelaunderandweirforinspectionandmaintenance.
L.Wherethecircumferenceofthetroughisinterruptedbyabridge-supportoranotherobstacle,provideafixedpanel(s)overthetroughbeneaththesupportsuchthatthesurfaceofthecoveriscontinuousaroundtheentiretank.
M.Providethecoversystemdesignedtowithstandwindandsnowloadsfortheplantlocation and support a 250 lb. person when walkable cover is required.
2.3MATERIALS
- Aluminum Launder Cover
- Structural frame/support: ASTM B221 6061-T6 aluminum
- Cover panels/hatches: ASTM B209 aluminum, 6061-T6 aluminum or 6063-T6 aluminum or equal
- Fasteners: Type 316 or 304 stainless steel. ASTM F593, ASTM F594
- Expansion Anchor Bolts: Type 316 or 304 stainless steel. ASTM F593, ASTM F594
PART3-EXECUTION
3.1INSTALLATION
A.Installitemsinaccordancewithapproved shopdrawings,manufacturer'sprintedinstructionsandasindicated.
B.Contractortofieldverifydimensionspriortoinstallingthecovers.
C.Provide a mechanical and replaceable seal to isolate the cover perimeter and aluminum supports from the concrete wall.
•Bare Aluminum shall not be installed against existing concrete
•Coat surfaces in contact with dissimilar materials.
D.Provideadjacentbafflepanelsfastenedtogetherusing14-inbolts,2flatwashers,lockwasher,andhexnut.AllhardwareType316stainlesssteel.
E.Thecoversshallextendcompletelyaroundthetankandshallbelevel,rigidandfreeofswaythatcouldworkanchorslooseorcauseunduewear.
