GERSHON ROTHMAN AWARDS 2017
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATIONS
The awards are being funded by the Delamere Charitable Trust in memory of Gershon Rothman to recognise his generous bequest to the charity.
Project bids must be focused on meeting a need (or needs) which would benefit and improve the education of Greater Manchester Jewish children, of nursery or school age, with special educational needs.
All bids should be from appropriate Jewish organisations in Greater Manchester and will be assessed by an independent judging panel. The decisions of the independent judging panel will be final and not subject to appeal. Lobbying of the panel will not be permitted.
Project bids should be for total amounts between £5K and £20K. Expenditure can be spread over a period of up to two years. Awards may be paid out in instalments, dependent on achievement of milestones. If successful applicants do not propose their own milestones, Delamere Charitable Trust will set them instead.
(If your organisation believes it has a project which would appeal to the Delamere Charitable Trust involving expenditure in excess of £20K, it may choose to approach the Delamere Trustees directly but such a project will not be eligible for a Gershon Rothman Award and there is no guarantee the project will be considered by the Delamere Trustees).
A total fund of £75K will be available to award to successful projects although the independent judging panel will not be obliged to use the total fund.
Bids should be submitted in writing in the defined Application Form format, must clearly answer all the questions in the order they are posed, and can be supplemented if necessary by explanatory papers. The Application Form format can be downloaded from or phone us on 0161 773 2580 for a hard copy version.
Applicant organisations should give details including legal status, financial position, contact details and names of Lead Applicants. The Lead Applicant(s) must sign and date the application.
The organisation must be able to demonstrate that its policies and procedures for safeguarding children are sound.
The organisation must demonstrate its capacity to manage the project effectively – Delamere Charitable Trust will undertake due diligence on the organisation to check its credentials and competence.
Bids must be submitted to reach Delamere Charitable Trust by 16th January 2017. They can be submitted either digitally by emailing , or by posting hard copy applications to Delamere Charitable Trust, 132-134 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester M4 6DE. All bids will then be passed to the independent judging panel who will reach their decisions by 28th February 2017.
