Pupil Premium information – Reception, Year 1 and 2 parents
As you know all children from Reception age to Year Two are now entitled to a universal free school meal, but some children may be entitled to additional funding in the form of the Pupil Premium. This is to help support every child to achieve their full academic potential.
As a school we have to rely on parents to claim for this support as we can no longer check on your behalf. Therefore, can we ask that you please take the time to check to see if you are eligible using the methods below. If you are unable to access the internet, please call the school office to make an appointment to come in and we will help you check online.
You can check your eligibilityvia or fill in the online form via the London Borough of Lewisham website Choose the link for school meals and then click on apply for school meals online. Further information is available fromLewisham PupilBenefits (020 8314 6221)
One of the aims of the Pupil Premium is to provide additional funding for the school to raise the quality of your child’s learning experience. It is used in many different ways including:
- Your child receiving a Free School Meal until they leave Primary School.
- They may receive a subsidy for school visits.
- As a school we will receive more funding to ensure that we can tailor provision to the needs of your child/children.
- Additional support where needed.
- Possible subsidy for breakfast or after school clubs.
Is your child entitled to Additional Funding?
Check to see if you are entitled, are you receiving any of the below?
- Income Support or Income based Job Seeker’s Allowance Employment Support Allowance (income related)
- Support under Part VI of the Asylum Act 1999
- Guarantee Element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit only - income below threshold amount for free school meals £16,190
If you receive working tax credit (regardless of income) you do not qualify for pupil premium unless you have recently stopped work, reduced your hours and are receiving the working tax credit run-on.
Please note that authorisation is renewable every year and that this is a parental responsibility.
Thank you
