RAPE CRISIS PROGRAM

Components: 40.20.161, 40.20.301,40.20.451

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The goal of the Rape Crisis (RC)Program is to reduce the level of trauma experienced by sexual assault survivors through the provision of comprehensive and supportive services, to improve coordination of multi-disciplinary response systems, and to expand public awareness concerning sexual assault and its impact. With federal funding increasing the Rape CrisisProgram,Subrecipients were able to sustain the same level of service provision as in the previous year and add 2-5 additional objectives to meet the needs of their communities. This is due in large part to the commitment of the professionals and volunteers who serve the needs of sexual assault survivors.

This Program, pursuant to California Penal Code §§13836-13837, funds 84 rape crisis centers to provide comprehensive services to sexual assault victims as they deal with the emotional trauma and as they progress through the criminal justice system.
