2016 Environmental Scholarship

The Mountain Area Preservation Environmental Scholarship is a $1,000 award to a high school graduating senior residing in Truckee who will be attending a two- or four-year college/university and pursuing a degree in the environmental science/studies sector. Special focuses can include natural resource management, planning, law, policy or sustainability initiatives.

In addition to this application, you must include a short essay in response to the following:

Why do you want to pursue an education/career in the environmental sector?

How has growing up in Truckee helped to influence that decision?

Please address both questions in your response. Your response should be 300 words maximum for your combined answers. It should be typed, signed and dated by you, and attached to this application.

Applications are evaluated with the name of the student removed in order to assure that every applicant is reviewed in a fair and balanced manner.

RECEIVING A SCHOLARSHIP

We will notify you by Friday, April 29, 2016 if you have received a scholarship. If you receive a scholarship, the following procedures must be followed:
