Duetothelengthoftheparade,wearelimitedtothenumberofunitsallowed.Applicationswillbeconsideredonthebasisofquality,contribution,andthemeorientationtotheparade.TheParadeCommitteereservestherighttorefusetoallowanyunitforaestheticand/orsafety reasons.
DescriptionofParadeUnits:
1Regular FloatOnethatoriginatesfromsourcesotherthanaprofessionalfloat
company (i.e.“homemade.”)
2.ProfessionalFloat Onedesignedandconstructedbyaprofessionalfloatcompany.
3.MarchingBand Mustbeaperforminggroupofmoderatesize.Drillteamsmayperforminconjunctionwithmarchingbandunits.Observanceof60ft.spacingisrequestedtoallowforpropercameracoverageofunits.Unitsmustallow2to3ft.betweenunitandcurbforpolicemotorcycles.
4.CarOnlycars carryingpublic celebrities/officials willbeaccepted.
5.Other Theremaybenomorethan10totalwalkersperunit. Pleasenotethatthislimitincludesallpeopleandanimals(otherthanhorses).Amaximumof4horsesperunitareallowed.(Example:5dogsand5peoplewouldbepermitted,andwouldcountas10walkers)
Animals:WillbeacceptedatthediscretionoftheParadeCommittee.Unitscomposedofliveanimalsmustbefollowedbyapick-uppersondressedincostume,andmustsubmitproofofliabilityinsurancecoverage.
Walkingunits:Willonlybeallowedwithafloat ordecoratedunit. Amaximumof10walkersperunit(includingchaperonesandanimals) areallowed.Anyonenotonthefloatmustbe12yearsofageorolder.Nostrollersormotorizedscootersareallowed.Walkersshallbedressedtothemeappropriately,includingchaperones.
Anyothertypeunit not mentioned: WillonlybeallowedwiththeapprovaloftheParadeCommittee.
Decoration of Parade Units:
SANTA is provided by the Parade Committee and MAY NOT appear on or with any unit.
DisneyaffiliatedcharactersareprovidedbytheParadeCommitteeandMAYNOTappearonorwith anyunit
NoFlameorfireofanykindareallowedonorwithanyunit
Nomorethanonegolfcartwillbepermittedperunit.Allgolfcartsthatareincludedin the parade mustalso be decorated.
Allfloatsandwheeledunits(excludingpublicofficial’scarsantiquecars)aretobecompletely decoratedwithlightsandweatherproofmaterialsthatcanwithstandtransportationtoandparticipationintheparade.
Thetowingvehicleshouldbedecoratedandmustbeequippedwithatowbar,safetychains,andworkingbrake lights. All headlights on towing vehicles must be turned off or covered.
Theorganization’snameshallbevisibleontheunit.However,themainpurposeistoprovideidentification,notadvertisement.
Theunitshallbeno tallerthan 15feetand 12feetwide.
Safetybarsorsomestablestructureshallbeprovidedforpersonsstandingontheunit.
Eachapplicationcontainsaunitdescription.Each participanthasan obligation to update hisorherapplication.UpdatesMUSTbemadebythenight of theNovembermeeting. Wewillnot accept changesafter this meeting. Meeting TBA.
General Information:
AcceptanceandpositionoftheunitswithintheparadearemadebytheParadeCommitteeandarefinal.
Notificationofyourunitpositionwillbefurnishedatourmandatoryparticipantsmeeting TBA.
Alcoholicbeveragesandsmokingare NOTallowedonLakelandCenterpremises andwillnotbe permitted atanytimepriorto orduring theparade.
ALLUNITSparticipatingintheparadearerequiredtodisplay aJuniorLeagueofGreaterLakelandplacardsignoneachsideoftheirfloat.Thesewill begiven to unitsattime ofcheckin.
Anypersondrivingamotorizedvehicleshouldhaveavaliddriver’slicense.
UnitsmayNOTSTOPatanytime during the course ofthe parade.Theyshould SLOWdown forreviewatthe judge’s stand.
Allparadeparticipantsshould be picked up atthe end ofthe parade route.Parentsare encouraged to be inthe south parking lot of the Lakeland Center waiting for their child’s arrival.
WaiverofLiabilityformswillberequiredfromeachparade participant. FormswillbecollectedthenightoftheParadefromparadefloatrepresentative,ormaybeturnedinattheparticipant’smeeting.DONOTMAILWAIVERFORMS.
LOSTFOUNDwillbelocatedattheRegistrationarea.
NoUnit/Participantmaythroworhandoutanyitem(i.e.candy,trinkets, beads, orpamphlets) tothecrowd.Failuretocomplywillresultinremovalfromtheparadeandconfiscationofsuchitems.Thepolicearerequested to enforce this rule.
Onlyone(1)unitperorganizationwillbeaccepted.
Past parade participation does not guarantee entry into this year’s parade.
Ifyourorganizationappliedandwasacceptedintothe2016parade,butyourorganizationdidnotattendtheparade,and did notprovide anynotice ofthe same,please note thatyou willnotbe considered forthe 2017
parade,butmayapplyforacceptanceagainin2018.
