Four Year Funding for Organisations

The Four Year Funding program provides multi-year core program funding for small to medium arts organisations of significant regional, national or international standing. Four Year Funding will enable organisations to plan ambitious artistic programs with longer term certainty and increase their capacity to leverage other support and collaborations.

The Four Year Funding program is a key component of the Council’s strategy to foster a vibrant and sustainable national arts sector. This investment will support some of Australia’s leading small to medium arts companies to create and present excellent and innovative artistic work that engages audiences and develops markets nationally and internationally. The organisations supported play a critical role in the Australian arts landscape by working with a diverse range of artists, art forms and communities across the country.

After lengthy sector consultation the Australia Council launched a responsive new grants model in 2015, which included consistent multi-year core program funding across all art forms. The Council’s grants model is an integrated suite of programs with multi-year core program funding for organisations designed to be complemented by regular project grants for individuals, groups and organisations. Organisations receiving Four Year Funding from 2017 will not be eligible to apply to the Arts Projects – Organisations category for the duration of their funding agreement. These organisations can still apply to Government Programs delivered by the Australia Council.

The minimum eligible grant request for Four Year Funding is $75,000 per year and maximum amount is $300,000 per year. Further information about eligibility, criteria and assessment for the Four Year Funding program is availablehere.

The assessment process for Four Year Funding from 2017 – 2020 has been completed. Applications will open again in 2019.

The Four Year Funding program replaces the Key Organisations programs. Current funding arrangements through the Key Organisations conclude on 31 December 2016.
