Course Description/Overview
The Bachelor degree in Business requires every student to complete a research project or an internship as the culminating experience in earning the degree. If you choose the Research Project please carefully read each section of this syllabus and follow its guidelines.
The research project can be completed by a team of 3 Students (or less in exceptional circumstances).
Course Learning Objectives
The Research Project is the capstone course for the Bachelor degree in Business, serving as the integrative culmination of your program of study. The Research Project should be a substantial piece of independent research that is logically consistent with the content of your program of study. Your work should demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of a body of professional literature related to a specific topic. The Project should grow out of your program of study and should demonstrate your ability to incorporate the knowledge from the courses you have taken. As your culminating experience, the Research Project should demonstrate your use of the knowledge gained in the program.
Conduct Research and Complete the Project Paper______
Because of the range of approaches possible for Projects in the Bachelor degree in Business, defining minimal standards for project papers is difficult. However, if you are following a traditional approach to a research project, a report of original research or policy study, the paper documenting your research including the literature review should include the following headings and not be less than 5000 words (excluding references):
- Title
- Abstract (100 Words)
- Introduction + Research Objectives + Significance of the Research (500 words)
- Literature Review (2000 words)
- Methodology (clearly state how you plan to accomplish the project objectives) (1000 words)
- Findings & Discussion (1000 words)
- Conclusion & Recommendations (500 words)
- References
The references list, in-text citations, bibliographies etc. must be used to acknowledge the work of others properly. Students must use the Harvard referencing style in their project
Grading Scheme
Oral Comprehensive Exam (Formal Presentation/Defense of Project)
Approximately one month prior to the last day of classes in the semester of your Research Project course, you should contact Special Project Instructor for dates available to schedule your presentation.
The Evaluation Panel for the Research Project presentation will consist of the student’s supervisor and a moderator (i.e., another academic staff member) assigned by the relevant department. In the presentation of the project (30 minutes), the student will be asked to: (1) present a summary of the project, (2) explain the way the project was organized and carried out, and (3) explain the relationship between the Research Project and the content of the Business program. Then the members of the assessment panel will ask the student their questions about the Project

I / Incomplete; given only when a student is unable to complete a segment of the course because of circumstances beyond the student’s control. A grade of incomplete may be given only when approved in writing by the department chair or school dean.
X / Conditional, with no grade points per credit; given only when the student is at fault in failing to complete a minor segment of a course, but in the judgment of the instructor does not need to repeat the course. It must be made up within the next semester in residence or the grade becomes a failure (F). A (X) grade is computed into the grade point average as a (F) grade.
Late Assignments
If you are late in giving your assignment, you will be awarded 0.
Course Policies
I. Academic Misconduct
ASU expects all students to engage in all academic pursuits in a manner that is above reproach and to maintain complete academic honesty and integrity in their academic experiences both in and out of the classroom. The University may initiate disciplinary proceedings against a student accused of any form of academic dishonesty, including but not limited to cheating on an examination or other academic work, plagiarism, collusion, and/or the abuse of resource materials.
All academic dishonesty cases must first be considered and reviewed by Research Project supervisor. If he/she believes that an academic penalty is necessary, then he/she will assign the penalty (in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations). He/she will then inform you of your right to appeal the decision to the College Dean and, if needed, to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. At each step in the process, you will be entitled to a written notice of the offense and/or of the administrative decision, an opportunity to respond to the charges, and the right to an impartial disposition as to the merits of the case. After the completion of the academic process, the academic staff making the final disposition of the case may refer the matter to the Vice Chancellor or any additional disciplinary action that may be appropriate, as in the case of flagrant or repeated violations.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a serious academic offense. The A’Sharqiyah University (ASU) regards plagiarism as academic dishonesty. Consequences of plagiarism include failing an assignment, receiving a lower course grade, and even failing a course. You might be plagiarizing if you:
• Submit someone else's work as your own.
• Buy a paper from a papermill, website or other source.
• Copy sentences, phrases, paragraphs, or ideas from someone else's work, published or unpublished, without giving the original author credit.
• Replace select words from a passage without giving the original author credit.
• Copy any type of multimedia (graphics, audio, video, Internet streams), computer programs, music compositions, graphs, or charts from someone else's work without giving the original author credit.
• Piece together phrases, ideas, and sentences from a variety of sources to write an essay.
• Build on someone else's idea or phrase to write your paper without giving the original author credit.
• Submit your own paper in more than one course without permission.
