Homosexuality and the Bible Classes
Classes in September
On Wednesdays at 7:00 P.M. Sept 18 and 25, classes will be held at Agape' MCC to discuss homosexuality and the Bible.
The LGBT community has faced discrimination from society largely based on 6 verses out of over 30,000 that are used to bash same-sex relationships. In other portions of scripture, the Bible seems to affirm same-sex attraction. The Bible should be interpreted through the life and ministry of Jesus, who never condemned anyone for having same-sex attractions.
These classes will discuss the clobber passages, passages that affirm, and look at resources that will help anyone wanting a better understanding of the Bible and sexual orientation.
New Members Class - Sun Sept 29

Recycled Art Materials Needed!
Can You Help?
It's time for another plea for recycled art materials! School is starting and I'll be using all sorts of things with my art students. Things you would normally toss like: magazines, colored plastic lids (no white or clear, please), metal bottle caps of all kinds, fabric scraps, dried or silk flowers, dryer sheets, bubble wrap, net bags that oranges, potatoes, and onions come in, thin sheets of corrugated cardboard, sponges, broken jewelry, broken watches, rusty hardware, springs, eggshells, RANDOM things:-)
If you aren't sure - send me an email (click here) and I will let you know. One HUGE request - used canvases. All of the artwork in the church is on recycled canvas- found in garage sales and flea markets. I'd appreciate all your used/recycled treasures! Thank you!!! - Judy
Cancer Prevention Study
Research today for a cancer-free tomorrow
Join Rev. David in signing up for this study!
To better understand ways to prevent cancer, the American Cancer Society is recruiting men and women across the US and Puerto Rico for a landmark new research study - Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). Enrollment is being made possible in partnership with Tarrant County College from Oct. 29 - Nov. 7, 2013.
Individuals may choose to participate if they are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study (which involves completing follow-up surveys periodically over the next 20-30 years), are between the ages of 30 and 65 years old and have never been diagnosed with cancer.
CPS-3 will help researchers better understand the genetic, environmental and other factors that may cause or prevent cancer.
For more information, visit or call 1-888-604-5888.
Please Excuse Our Mess
Thanks for Your Patience
Just a note to thank the community for your patience with the messy social hall as we work to finish our classroom build out. Once construction is complete we will be stripping and waxing our floors, painting, and de-cluttering, please bear with us for a bit longer and help us inform our visitors that from the chaos will come new life! :-)

Fair Housing Survey
For the City of Fort Worth
The City of Fort Worth is currently conducting a Fair Housing Survey, as part of an on-going study regarding impediments to fair housing choice. Known as the "Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice," this study is being conducted to fulfill regulatory requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The goal of the study is to determine whether any local barriers or adverse policies exist to fair housing choice by Fort Worth residents, in housing matters such as rental, sales, lending, insurance, development of new housing, or preservation of existing housing.
Part of the study involves collecting the opinions and experiences of people who are involved in all aspects of the housing industry, including renters, owners and a wide spectrum of residents and community representatives.
A convenient online survey is located at the below link:
Fair Housing Survey
Completing the survey will take less than 10 minutes, and your comments will remain anonymous.
Please feel free to forward this email and the online survey link to any other Fort Worth community members that you believe may be interested in participating in this important survey on Fair Housing issues in our community.
Life PantryNeeds Your Contributions!
May We Have Some More Please?

We are beginning to run a bit low and wanted to just remind you to continue donating as you can...let's feed the people! You can find a list of suggestions and guidelines at this Agape' MCC website link.
