Standards for Mathematical Practice:
1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively

7. Look for and make use of structure.
8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
The standards will be covered in EIGHT main units:
(1st nine weeks) Functions, Quadratics, & Trigonometry
(2nd nine weeks)Transformations, Parallel Lines, Congruent Triangles, Similar Triangles, & Probability
Materials Needed for Class:
-Sharpened Pencils- 1 ½ inch 3 ring binder w/notebook paper
-8 dividers labeled Units #1-8- 1 Graphing Composition Notebook
-TI83/84 Graphing Calculator, recommended not required.
Clorox/Lysol Wipes would be greatly appreciated to help keep your child healthy.
Grading Policy:
Tests: 30%Homework: 15%Notebook Checks: 5%
Quizzes: 50% - Quiz grades may be replaced with the corresponding test grade if the student has completed ALL of their homework for that given unit & made quiz corrections BY test day. Deadline for grade replacement- one calendar workday after tests have been returned to the student. The student MUST show proficiency on that topic in order to have the corresponding grade replaced (teachers’ discretion).
The NC FINAL EXAM for Math II will be given at the end of this course calculated as 20% of final grade.
Homework will be given EVERY NIGHT; it needs to becompleteall work should be shown. Below are expectations of Grade A level work:
Name, Date, & Assignment Information / Neatness & Organization / Completion / Terminology & NotationGrade A / Homework is titled with your name, date, & assignment information. / The work is presented in a neat & organized fashion that is easy to read; problems are numbered & answers are clearly boxed. / All problems are completed with the proper work shown for each problem following examples shown in class. / Correct terminology & notation are always used making it easy to understand what was done. Complete sentences with explanations when needed.

Tutoring: My office hours are before school 7:50-8:15 MTWRFas well as Tuesday/Thursdays
11:00-12:10 (teacher led). Office hours are designed for questions and extra help/practice NOT a makeup session for missing or incomplete assignments. Students with missing assignments will be expected to stay afterschool to work in the Friday afternoon sessions (student led). In total, this is 6.5 hours per week built into the JP Knapp calendar that your child can receive additional help; please make sure they are taking full advantage of all that we have to offer.
