GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The employee will work collaboratively with principal, counseling staff, and instructional staff to build positive behavioral programs for students; co-lead small group sessions; respond to students in crisis; along with collecting and graphing student data.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other human services field preferred
- One year experience working with families and children
- Valid Virginia Drivers’ license and proof of insurance
- Satisfactory Driving Record in accordance with agency Driver Requirements policy
- Ability to acquire CPI, First Aid and CPR Certification
- Good oral, written, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organize work effectively, maintain necessary documentation and meet agency and licensing paperwork requirements
- Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and required paperwork according to licensing and agency requirements on a timely basis
- Ability to maintain daily, weekly, and monthly case documentation and submit to necessary parties according to agency and licensing guidelines
- Familiarity with community resources preferred
- Basic computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office
- Ability to drive agency vehicle and access to a personal vehicle for client transport
- Ability to understand and relate to students with special needs
- Ability to assist with implementing and providing behavior modification/management
- Ability to observe health and safety regulations
- Knowledge of safe classroom procedures and appropriate studentconduct
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
essential functions- May be required to perform any of the following duties:
- Practice crisis management involving students K-12 and across all levels of disabilities
- Assess level of crisis to determine necessary interventions
- Co-Facilitates weekly groups for elementary, middle, and high school students on topicsrelevant to their needs
- Cooperates with classroom staff, Behavioral Service Manager, and administration in documenting and tracking progress with behaviors per Daily School Report
- Assist teachers in creating appropriate, measurable behavior goals.
- Attends and participates in IEP meetings as needed or directed by administration
- Serves are FAPT alternate in place of Behavioral Services Manager
- Consults with staff members regarding specific student behaviors and potential resolutions
- Conducts research into programs, protocols, and related concepts as needed and as directed by Behavioral Services Manager
- Models appropriate coping and problem-solving strategies when interacting with students and staff.
- Participate in weekly staffing’s with BHSM and classroom staff for the development and/or review of behavior intervention plans
- Communicates with Behavioral Services Manager and administration weekly or as needed to assure behavior interventions are aligned with IEP goals of students, are implemented correctly and consistently, and are in support of LFSVA Guiding Principles.
- Maintains client information and records confidentiality in adherence with applicable HIPAA laws and regulations
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
