Welcome to Kindergarten with Miss Thompson!
I am so excited to start the school year with your student!First, let me introduce myself. My name is Shanna Thompson, and this is my third year in the Snoqualmie Valley School District. I am originally from Spokane Valley, Washington, and spent a few years living in Missoula, Montana for college. In my free time I like to run, travel, and explore different places around the Pacific Northwest. Teaching is my passion, and I can’t wait to spend this year teaching your student. Welcome to Kindergarten!
I have a few pieces of information to help the first week of school go smoothly. All other important information will be given to you at Curriculum Night (will keep you updated on the date and time.)
School Hours:Monday-Thursday 9:00am-3:26pm. Friday 9:00am-1:26pm.
Before School:When students arrive, they will drop their backpacks off in the hallway outside the classroom, and then go straight to the playground until 9:00am. For the first day, you may bring your student to the classroom.
After School:Both pickup and bus students will be walked to their designated areas. If you are picking up your student by car, the car pickup area is on the side of the school. If you are walking to pick up your student, please go to the front of the school. Please let me know in advance if your student is a walk or car pickup.
Schedule/after school changes: Please send a note or e-mail if there is a change in after school schedule/pickup/bus. Without a note, I must send students where they are scheduled to go for their safety. If you have a last minute pickup change, please call the office.
School Supplies: If you were unable to bring school supplies to Family Connection Meetings, please bring them in on the first day of school. Please label backpacks, coats, and lunch boxes with your child’s name.
Snacks & Water: Please send a nutritious snack to school with your student each day. See attached list of snack suggestions. Please send in a water bottle to keep at school, as we do not have a drinking fountain in our classroom.Students will bring water bottles home every Friday to be washed over the weekend.
Lunch: If your student is getting hot lunch, I will have a system for signing up for lunch at school. However, when learning new procedures, students may forget so I suggest sending a note/e-mail to me for the first few weeks if they are getting hot lunch. Hot lunch accounts can be filled on Family Access online, or you can send in a check or cash that I will make sure goes to the lunch room.
Take-Home Folder:The take-home folder will be a great means of communication for us. This folder is to come to school each day and will go home each night. All paperwork from me will be in this folder. If you have anything to give me, please put it in this folder. Please remind your student to show you this folder each night.
Classroom Contact: My e-mail is and my classroom phone number is (425)831-3829. E-mail is the best way to reach me. If you call during school hours, it is unlikely that I will be available to answer. If you have an urgent message or a sudden change in after school changes, please call the main office.
I am looking forward to a great year at Timber Ridge in kindergarten!
