Job Purpose: Tooversee parking of motor vehicles on University academic and residential campuses, and the use of the Visitors’ Car Park at Highfield, in line with University Parking Rules & Regulations. This full timerole involves welcoming visitors, liaising with staff, students and contractors, and issuing penalty charge notices to drivers parked in breach of parking regulations. Applicants should have a strong customer focus.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities
- To apply a detailed knowledge of Regulations for the Registration and Parking of Motor Vehicles and with car parking permits in use. To patrol the University Campuses to identify where vehicles are not appropriately parked and to issue penalty charge notices when vehicles are parked in contravention of the Regulations.
- To welcome booked visitors to the Visitors’ Car Park on the Highfield Campus and ensure appropriate use of the facility. To accommodate visitors who are not pre-booked when space is available.
- To review the condition of car parks, roadways & pavements (surfaces, lighting, signage, lining etc.) & report faults where necessary.
- To set out and stowaway reserved parking cones and signs, as required.
- To monitor the Pay and Display car park and ensure equipment is in good working order and report any faults.
- To control event delivery and collection vehicles (as required).
- To control event car parking.
- To assist Security staff with responses to fire alarms/emergencies (as required).
- To advise Security staff of any security concerns e.g. suspicious behaviour.

Links with the visiting public and the University community regarding car parking. Operating as part of the Transport Team with an active roll in the delivery of the University of Southampton Travel Plan.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: / Basic numeracy and literacy
