Senior Planner
(Neighborhood Stabilization and Revitalization)
City of Duluth Community Development Department
The City of Duluth, Georgia (pop. 26,600) is accepting applications for the position of full-time Senior Planner (Neighborhood Stabilization and Revitalization) in the Community Development Department.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating residential neighborhood and character areas revitalization efforts by identifying areas where community development activities can assist in the restoration and revitalization of local neighborhoods and character areas. Such activities will include assessment of needs, building relationships with neighborhood associations, overseeing and coordinating code compliance efforts, and coordinating related City programs and services. This position will be involved in current planning and long range planning efforts as it relates to neighborhood stabilization and comprehensive plan implementation as determined by the Community Development Director. The major guiding documents for this position are the City of Duluth Community Agenda (sometimes referred to as the Comprehensive Plan) and the Unified Development Code.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental design or related field from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree in an appropriate field preferred.
· Three to five years of professional-experience in planning, community development, or related work. Supervisory and project management experience is desired but not required.
· Possession of, or the ability obtain, Professional certifications with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the International Code Council (ICC) Property Maintenance Code are desired .
· Spoken/written fluency in a foreign language is beneficial, particularly Spanish, Korean, or Chinese.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $49,608 - $76,877 annualized, paid bi-weekly, Grade 26. Actual starting salary will be based on qualifications (work experience, education, training and certifications.)
