Dear Mike:

Congratulations! Your club has been chosen to participate in a Washington Capitals “Mites on Ice” scrimmage. Enclosed you will find the itinerary for your club’s appearance at VerizonCenter on January 6, 2007. Here are some guidelines to help you in coordinating this event for your team.

1)The Scrimmage: Your mites team will be divided into two (2) teams and will scrimmage each other for approximately 3 minutes with a running clock. This will take place at the beginning of the firstintermission. The Capitals will supply a referee for the scrimmage. No more than 14 players will be allowed to participate in the scrimmage and only 12 skaters and 2 goalies may be on the ice at once. No line changes will occur.

2)Equipment: All players must wear full equipment! Please double check your equipment before you leave for VerizonCenter, as we do not have equipment to lend.

3)Jerseys: The Washington Capitals will provide jerseys for the players to wear during the scrimmage. After the scrimmage is completed, the jerseys will be returned to Justin Guiles. *Please provide a roster with the player’s names (numbers will be assigned by coaches prior to the scrimmage) that can be used by the PA. Please assign numbers from 2-8 for each team, noting which players will be dressed as goalies.

4)Transportation:It is highly recommended that the club designate one or two parents to bring a van, SUV or station wagon that can be used to put the team’s equipment in after the children are finished on the ice. It works best if the parents divide the cost of parking this vehicle in the VerizonCenter garage so equipment can be returned quickly and efficiently. Equipment can be returned to individual players at the team’s next practice.

5)Parking: Parking is on a first come, first served basis. If you are able, we would recommend parking in one of the lots next to Verizon center on E or 6th streets or in the VerizonCenter garage. The cost for parking here is $20.

6)Meeting Place: All players, coaches and parents are to meet at the Verizon Center Press Gate at 6:00 PM. Coaches and players should report to the stairway at section 118 (by the the Chevy Chase Bank machine) at the start of the firstperiod. When the scrimmage is complete, parents should meet the children on the concourse at the section 118 stairway.

7)Parents: Parents must remain at the press entrance when dropping off the children and must report to the section 118 stairway when the scrimmage is completed. Please designate a few (5-6) parents to help the coaches in the locker room. No more than eight (8) adults (including coaches) will be permitted downstairs and in the locker room. *Only players will be permitted to skate on the ice. Coaches must walk along the near boards to the Capitals bench. No video cameras are permitted in the seating bowl. Any video cameras that are brought to the game must go downstairs with the players’ equipment. Coaches will have the best vantage point and can shoot video of the scrimmage from the bench.

8)Release Form: The release form must be completed in advance and turned in the night of the scrimmage. NO CHILD OR COACH WILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT PROPERLY FILLING OUT ONE OF THESE FORMS.

I would recommend holding a meeting to review these guidelines and the itinerary with the players, coaches and parents. Please call me with any questions at (202) 266-2231. Thank you for your participation and cooperation. We look forward to seeing you at VerizonCenter.

Best Regards,
