What is pupil premium funding?

Pupil premium is funding of approximately £900 per year per eligible pupil. This is funding that can be used specifically to support your child and their peers at school and it can have a dramatic impact on learning and progress.

How is pupil premium funding used at North Lancing?

Last year alone, pupil premium was used to pay for the following:

  • One to one teaching in maths and literacy with a qualified teacher
  • Reading Recovery – 20 weeks of daily one to one reading with a qualified teacher
  • 1st class at number – small group maths intervention 3 times a week
  • FFT Reading – daily one to one reading sessions
  • Weekly Booster sessions in maths and literacy
  • Smaller groups in maths everyday in Years 5 and 6
  • Daily extension maths teaching in Years 5 and 6
  • Free uniform
  • Reduced trip costs

Pupil premium is an amazing resource and resulting interventions can have a significant impact on your child and their peers.

Do you qualify?

You can register your child for Pupil Premium if you get any of these benefits:

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

  • Child Tax Credit provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income of £16,190 or less.

  • Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
