Perrin scores perfect on ACT

CAMPBELL COUNTY SCHOOLS – Campbell County High School Junior Andrew Perrin is perfect.

And he has test to prove it.

Andrew, 16, scored a perfect 36 on the ACT he took in March along with all members of the junior class at Campbell County High School. He previously scored a 35 when he took the test in December.

A 35 was astounding for Andrew and for us,” said Andrew’s mother, Dianne Perrin. “Hearing he received a perfect score was just wonderful news.”

A member of the gifted and talented program at the school, Andrew has been a strong student academically since elementary school where he first joined the academic team. He is now a member of the high school academic team which placed 4th in the state in the Governor’s Cup Competition. Andrew “knows a little about everything” according to his mother but his focus is social studies, especially U.S. History.

Hitting the books doesn’t take up all of Andrew’s time. He also hits the ball in both baseball and golf. He plays varsity and junior varsity baseball for the Camels splitting his time between pitching and the infield, and is a member of the school’s golf team. In addition, he is a self-taught bass guitar player whose band, Sorry I Shrunk Your Sweater Vest, won the school’s Battle of the Bands contest last spring.

Though he still has another year of high school to complete, Andrew’s post-college plans are already in the works. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky where he plans to study social studies in hopes of one day becoming a high school social studies teacher.

“I am thrilled for Andrew. To achieve a perfect score is an incredible feat. I know he worked very hard to achieve this,” said CCHS Principal Renee’ Boots.

Andrew’s score isn’t the only CCHS score worth bragging about. Two other students, Jared Wittrock and Jenna Garofolo, each scored a 35. Scoring a 34 or higher places all three in the top 1 percent of students who took the ACT
