Job Description

Job Title:Transform Coordinator

Responsible to:Head of Service - Transform

Salary: £23,697 per annum(pro-rata)

Fixed term contract to 30thSeptember 2016

Hours: 17.5 hours per week

Location: Volunteer Midlothian, Unit 5/6, Hardengreen Business Park, Dalkeith, EH22 3NX

Job Purpose:The Coordinator willbe responsible for developing, coordinating and monitoring the delivery of a high quality supported youth volunteering project throughout Midlothian.

The Coordinator will recruit and train young volunteers (aged 14-25) to help deliver existing physical activity sessions with older residents of local sheltered housing complexes across Midlothian. The post holder will coordinate and deliver the sessions and will support and supervise the young volunteers.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the service in line with best practice ensuring that appropriate volunteer recruitment, selection, training, support systems and procedures are in place and implemented
  • Recruit young people to volunteer, with emphasis on targeting hard to reach young people, and those who are in, or otherwise likely to go into a negative destination on leaving education.
  • Organise, promote, deliver and support group physical activitysessions in sheltered housing complexes, and community groups for older people
  • Train volunteers to ensure that they have the skills; knowledge and support to be able to carry out their role effectively
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision for volunteers
  • Promote good practice and recognition for young volunteers
  • Develop and maintain links with partner organisations from all sectors that can support the delivery of this service
  • Develop and implement appropriate monitoring and review systems to ensure service quality
  • Collate, analyse and evaluate data about the service in order to inform future development and delivery

MANAGEMENT

The Head of Service - Transform at Volunteer Midlothian will provide line management with monthly supervision and an annual appraisal review.

LOCATION

The post will be based at the premises of Volunteer Midlothian, Unit 5/6, Hardengreen Business Park, Dalkeith, EH22 3NX

The position will involve regular travel throughout Midlothian and other locations as required.

HOURS OF WORK

The post will be for 17.5 hours per week - flexible to meet the requirements of the job, including some evening and weekend work. There is no additional payment for overtime and unsociable hours, but time off in lieu will be given for hours worked in excess of contracted hours.

TRANSPORT

Reimbursement will be made for expenses incurred on business travel - for car use an allowance of 0.45p will be paid. There is no assisted car purchase or leasing scheme.

PENSION

The post-holder will be eligible to join an Aegon / Scottish Equitable Group Pension Scheme. The employer contribution is 3%

ANNUAL LEAVE

25 days leave plus 10 public holidays with additional 5 days after 5 years service (pro-rata).

PROBATION PERIOD

The post will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.

Notice

The notice period will be one month.
