Exercises to Complete:
- Masomo Ya Kisasa: “Popo,” Maswali 1-9 (p. 32). Write out answers to hand in at your tutorial.
- Masomo Ya Kisasa: “Popo,” Activities – Complete Objective 1 (p. 11). Write a one paragraph description of one of the suggested animals. Be sure to include where the animal lives. Be prepared to give your description in conversation session and to discuss the other suggested animals as well.
- Masomo Ya Kisasa: “Popo,” Activities – Complete Objective 2 (p. 11). Write a short paragraph for each of the questions (a, b, c). State your opinion and tell why you hold that opinion. Be prepared to express your opinions verbally in conversation session.
- Masomo Ya Kisasa: “Popo,” Activities – Complete Objective 5 (p. 34).
Assignments due at Tutorial:
- Written answers to the Maswali.
- One paragraph description of one of the suggested animals in Objective 1.
- Three paragraphs stating and supporting your opinions on a, b, and c in Objective 2.
- Your ten non-conditional sentences as assigned in Objective 5.
Preparation for Conversation Session:
- Be prepared to discuss your reactions, thoughts, questions, and concerns regarding the selection(s) from the text assigned this week. Is there anything you found particularly interesting? Were there moments or passages you did not quite understand? What have you learned from this reading? What would you like to explore further?
- Be prepared to give a verbal version of the description you prepared for Objective 1 without using your notes. Be prepared to discuss the other suggested animals with your conversation partner – discussing where the animals live, what they look like, and what they typically eat.
- Be prepared to state verbally your opinions on topics a, b, and c in Objective 2. Be prepared to ask your conversation partner and others in the class about their views on the topics. Be prepared to compare and contrast views and to ask follow up questions about why people hold certain opinions.
