June 2006

- Phil Sims announces the New Officers for 2006-2007: Diana Pfaff will serve as President of the Irving

Schools Foundation; Lisa Watkins as President-Elect; Lisa Mazon as Secretary; and Nancie Rissing as

Treasurer. Diana thanked outgoing members Nell Anne Hunt, Patty Schmidt, and Mike Hill for their

dedication and service during their terms on the ISF Board.

- Three IISD teachers attend The Dallas Institute Summer Teachers’ Academy – a three week intensive

program for English teachers- funded by the Foundation. This is the second year that IISD teachers

have attended. This was made possible by the endowment grant established by the ISF Board from the

proceeds of the 20th Anniversary Fall Luncheon.

- Front page coverage in DMN of Diana Pfaff following her mother’s example of leading the ISF.

- The Judy Hammond Memorial Athletic Scholarship Committee is established. A goal of endowing a

$20,000 scholarship is agreed to by committee members.

- The Major Saver fund raising campaign results are announced and $21,000 is raised for the Irving

Schools Foundation and participating IISD Elementary Schools

July 2006

- Citigroup Grant of $10,000 received to support the ISF Grants-to-Teachers program.

- The Women of Irving High establish a scholarship. Irving High women alumni want to serve as role

models on the importance of “giving back.” The scholarship will be awarded in April 2007 at the

Breakfast with the Starsevent to a female student at Irving High.

- The Program and Scholarship Committee design a metric to be used in the evaluation of Grants-to-

Teachers applications.

August 2006

- Amanda O’Neal, Director of Business Development at Las Colinas Medical Center, welcomed as new

member of the ISF Board.

- ISF Board Retreat and Annual Meeting held on August 18.

- Dallas Morning News Sunday Business Section article featurestheIrving Schools Foundation’srole as

the first education foundation established in Texas.

- Brad Durham, CEO of Independent Bank, and Anne Pfaff, of Plastronics, agree to be co-chairs of the

2006 Annual Fall Luncheon.

September 2006

-The mostsuccessful Payroll Deduction Campaign is kicked off by Jan Dickson and Sherri Marchant.

Together, with the Campus Coordinators, a goal of $150,000 is set. Jan Dickson declares that she will

be funding a $1,000 scholarship again for 2007. (Total funds raised in the campaign were $153,300

which represents a 30% increase over the previous record total from the 2005-2006 campaign.)

- Teacher of the Year Awards presented –ISF increases Teacher of the Year awards by 15% so each

of the 35 campus Teachers Of The Year receives a $200 cash award and the two District Teachers of

the Year receive a $500 cash award. For the first time, the ISF arranges for the District Teachers of The

Year to receive the use of a new 2007 Mitsubishi for the school year from Don Herring Mitsubishi and a

dinner for two at Via Real Restaurant. Coverage of the awards in the DMN, Irving Journal, Neighbors

and Rambler.

- Kerri Miene, State Farm Insurance, welcomed as new member of the ISF Board of Directors.

- Detra Craig represents the ISF at College Night held at the Academy.

October 2006

- Reception held on Oct. 9 to introduce Diana Pfaff as the new President of the ISF and to recognize

Citigroup for their $10,000 grant. Ceremony receives front page coverage in the DMN Neighbors and

the Irving Journal.

- Brandon Strom, of Capital One, welcomed as new member of the ISF Board of Directors.

- Margie Stipes announces at dedication of Stipes Elementary that Marty French, principal, will be

honored as an Irving Schools Foundation Fellow by the Stipes Family.

- IBM approves grant request and donates two new work stations and a laser printer to the ISF!

November 2006

- The ISF Annual Fall Luncheonwas held Nov 8. Congressman Pete Sessions is keynote speaker with a sold out

audience of 275 people. The event raises $35,000 for the Grants-to-Teachersand Teacher Scholarship

programs. The event proceeds which support teacher programs were40% higher than in 2005.

- Baylor Medical Center at Irving signs a contract with ISF to award two $2,500 scholarships in April 2007

at the Breakfast with the Stars event.

- The Leadership Technology Council, of the Greater Irving Chamber of Commerce, agrees to award a

$1,000 scholarship in April 2007. The goal is to endow the scholarship in the future.

- Chance Drawing held to benefit the Judy Hammond Memorial Athletic Scholarship and raises over

$3,000.

December 2006

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

- Pancake Breakfast held at Applebee’s on December 2 to benefit the Judy Hammond Scholarship.

The event raised $1,300.

- Anonymous Donor contributes $10,000 to the Grants-to-Teachers program.

- Verizon Hispanic Employee Support Organization donates $5,000 to award as scholarships in 2007 and

2008 to 4 MacArthurHigh School students.

- ExxonMobil approves grant request for $5,000 to support the Grants-to-Teachers program.

- The ISF Board members “adopt a school” and select December and January as Campus Appreciation

months. Board members donate and deliver “goodies” to each campus

January 2007

- Angel Biasatti, of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, welcomed as new member of the ISF Board.

- Dedication Ceremony held for the Judy Hammond Memorial Athletic Scholarship. Over $20,000 raised

to endow the scholarship. Athletic Department Coaches deliver testimonials about Judy. Over 100

people attended the event. The original goal for the endowment has been increased to $40,000.

-Mella Ponce’s donation of $5,000 received to increase the current endowment of the Joe and Mella

Ponce Scholarship.

- Lauralee Hubbard Memorial Scholarship reaches endowed level with $16,000 donated since May 2006.

February 2007

- Breakfast with the Stars planning in full motion with volunteer scholarship review committees selecting

student scholarship recipients.

March 2007

- Nissan agrees to be the Title Sponsor for the Breakfast with the Stars event, again, for third year!

- Judy Hammond Memorial Athletic Scholarship Golf Tournament held at Riverchase Golf Course and

raises $10,700 for her scholarship.

- Three Teacher scholarships recipients selected for $500 tuition reimbursement.

April 2007

- 20th Anniversary Breakfast with the Stars, co-chaired by Lisa Mazon and Amanda O’Neal,achieves

sold-out, record attendance of 550 people. Arecord number of Fellows are recognized and a record

number of scholarships are awarded. John McCaa serves as emcee for fifth year. A record number of

new sponsors support the Breakfast event. $93,000 is raised from the event (does not include

scholarship money raised). Publicity from the Breakfast includes front page coverage in the Irving Journal and in

DMN Neighbors. ICTN and IISD cable network show interview clips several times.

May 2007

- Fellows luncheon reception (Perpetual Giving Tree Ceremony) held May 30 to recognize the 21 Fellows and

their donors. Over 100 people attended the dedication ceremony.

- Boardvotes for new slate of officers to take effect in June.

- Citigroup Grant request submitted for $10,000 for the Grants-to-Teachers program in Fall 2007.

- Grants totaling $15,500 to be awarded by ISF to various schools in recognition of outstanding payroll

deduction campaign results. Seven schools eligible to receive grants compared to one school in the

2005-06 school year.
