Where has the funding come from and why?
The funding for the installation of outdoor fitnessequipment is provided through the Department of Health and Ageing.
Will I have to pay to use it?
The equipment will be free and available to anyone within the community.
Why do we need fitness equipment in the park?
LakesideParkis considered a good location to install this equipment as it is located on two major bus routes, has accessible toilets and car parking. The park is also used by a wide range of community members and passive surveillance is provided through the presence of an onsite gardener and local residents.
What type of equipment will be installed and who is it for?
Typically outdoor fitness equipment suits a diverse range of fitness skills and ages. There are different pieces of equipment that can support cardiovascular fitness, strength, endurance, balance, flexibility and relaxation.
Where will the equipment be?
The location of the equipment within the park has yet to be decided. We will seek community feedback on whether the equipment forms a circuit or is in one location.
Will someone show me how to use it?
All pieces of equipment will have explanatory and advisory signage for guidance.
Can outdoor fitness trainers and their groups use the equipment?
Council approved commercial fitness training operators must only operate group commercial exercise activities in the areas specified in their Licence Agreement, this agreement does not cover the use of Council provided outdoor fitness equipment.
