Office base: / Predominantly schools based. Attendance at 273 Preston New Road, Blackburn, BB2 6PL for training and otherwise as required.

Salary Range: / Salary Scale Point 21- 25 - £19,941 to £22,437 per annum pro rata

1PURPOSE OF THE JOB

1.1To be responsible for an allocated locality / cluster of schools (Primary & Secondary) within the geographical area of Lancashire and to be a designated ‘Key Worker’ for the locality / cluster group.

1.2To deliver parenting interventions to support parents of children and young people involved in the Familywise service to work towards positive change. The Service will develop a comprehensive systemic response using models of evidence-based practice.

1.3To work in partnership with others, to support and enable children, young people and their families to achieve emotional health and physical wellbeing.

1.4Liaise and work in partnership with schools and local agencies to co-ordinate appropriate, timely family support services and to promote a holistic ‘Whole Family’ approach to meeting their assessed needs.

1.5To identify appropriate intervention / support strategies for children, young people and their families based on their assessed needs including ‘safeguarding’ strategies in partnership with local statutory services.

1.6To support schools to undertake & lead on CAF assessments for children, young people and families referred to the service, and maintain a high standard of case management recording and supervision (in line with Familywise protocols).

2PRINCIPAL DUTIES

2.1To deliver Family Development Programmes (parenting skills) in the local area. Coordinate and facilitate programmes to meet the individual needs of parents/carers, families and schools.

2.2 Develop positive and constructive relationships with staff and senior members of the schools and participate in the schools’ community and events.

2.3Using solution focused and creative and imaginative strategies work alongside parents/carers/schools to develop their skills, knowledge and resilience to meeting the individual needs of their children.

2.4To work as part of the Family Well-Being Service to encourage families to actively participate in services that are identified as part of their assessed needs.

2.5To liaise and work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies in the interests of the service and needs of families.

2.6To undertake direct work with children, young people and their parents/carers (within schools & local communities) as referred by the commissioning schools to promote positive outcomes & prevent statutory intervention (wherever possible).

2.7To ensure that the service provided meets the needs of children and young people and balances emotional health and family well-being with that of safeguarding (child protection).

2.8With the Familywise Team Leader, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the service in partnership with children, young people and their parents/carers who access the service and produce an annual report.

2.9To assist in the on-going development and sustainability of the service and in the identification and securing of future funding for the work of the service.

2.10To work in partnership and deliver integrated services with all CANW’s Services (projects) across Lancashire and the Greater Manchester regions.

2.11To work within CANW’s Quality Assurance Framework (PQASSO) and work within best practice guidelines and National Occupational Standards for Working with Parents / Families and the ECM Outcomes.

3ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1Represent CANW at meetings, conferences and exhibitions as required.

3.2Provide a non-discriminatory service and treat all who access CANW services fairly and equally.

3.3Be aware of the Health and Safety requirements in the workplace, and in particular, as it relates to own service area and/or department.

3.4Work within allocated budgets and agreed expenditure levels.

3.5Keep accurate records and provide written reports as required.

3.6Contribute to CANW’s operational and strategic development, including any organisation objectives identified through designated quality standards, such as PQASSO and Investors in People.

3.7Participate fully in personal supervision meetings and the annual appraisal process and undertake any training deemed necessary for the role.

3.8Review own delivery performance against agreed annual KPIs (key performance indicators), aiming to meet or exceed personal targets/performance levels.

3.9Undertake additional duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required which are deemed appropriate to the levels of responsibility within the role.

3.10Be aware of the safeguarding policy and procedure for children and vulnerable adults and ensure that the safeguarding of children, young people and adults is given the highest priority in the work undertaken.

3.11Have a personal responsibility to ensure that person identifiable, confidential or sensitive information is processed in line with the Data Protection Act and complies with the law, organisational polices and best practice when processing information.

3.12Work outside of normal office hours (ie evenings and weekends) as and when required to meet the needs of service users as appropriate.

3.13Undertake other appropriate tasks as may be required of the post holder from time to time and provide cover for tasks during periods of sickness or holiday.
