Our/Are

There is a distinct difference in the sound of these two words when they are pronounced 'properly'. However, people with certain types of accents do pronounce them so that they both sound like 'are'.

'Our' means belonging to us. So if the word comes before something or someone that belongs or is associated with us, then it is likely that you need to put 'our'.

This is our house.

We have just come back from our holidays.

Our children are all grown up now.
