NSW dominates National AIIA iAwards demonstrating Sydney as Australia’s leading technology startup hub.

NSW has hit a home run at this year’s AIIA National iAwards ceremony with Sydney based Start-up Companies taking home the top locations for the Microsoft sponsored “Startup Company” Award.
With over 100 Startup Company Applications from around Australia entering into the prestigious awards, AIIA CEO Ian Birks commented “Events like this one showcase the depth of talent emerging across the Australian industry”
The AIIA (Australian Infomation Industry Association) is the leading national body representing the information and communications technology (ICT) industry in Australia.
The category winner, BuzzNumbers, based in Bondi Junction Sydney, won the award category “Startup Company” as sponsored by Microsoft for its Social Media Monitoring product and Geographical Conversation Mapping innovation.

Merit awards were awards to another NSW company, Figitt.com, based in Sydney CBD, for its Mobile Advertising Platform product..
Previous years winners, including Engin, WotIF.com and Atlassian, have gone on to achieve significant Australian and International commercial success and demonstrate the viability of the AIIA in recognising high-growth Australian technology companies.
The gala eventheld at Crown Palladium was attended by over 500 senior executives from industry and government including Senator Conroy and executives from Microsoft, IBM, CSC, CSIRO, Fujitsu, BearingPoint and KPMG.
