"Three Certainties In The Christian's Life"
Job 19:25-27
INTRO.Uncertainty can be defined as anything in our lives in which we encounter doubts or the unknown. We face many uncertainties in our lives: the uncertainty of life, the uncertainty of death, the uncertainty of the future, and the uncertainty in the present. But the Scripture tells us in Romans 8:37, "In all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
Although we face uncertainty, we can conqueror all things with Christ, our LORD. He is there for us at all times. He doesn't leave us alone, but has promised, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee!" (Hebrews 13:5b). OH, what a glorious Savior we have! We can face uncertainty with Him!
In our text, we see Job, beaten and broken down by the trying and testing of his Faith, forsaken by his friends, and unsure about his future. Yet, in the midst of all the things happening in Job's life, we see an affirmation of Job's faith in God. Job, yet tried and tested, still believed in the power and the presence of God. OH, that we, God's people, could rely on God the way Job did!
Although, Job was faced with many uncertainties he could boldly proclaim that he was certain of three things in his life. Each Child of God here tonight has the same certainties in their life too. I want to title the message tonight, "Three Certainties in the Christian's Life!" We may not know about many things, but these things are
certainties.
WE HAVE:
(1) The Certainty Of A Living Redeemer
Text: Job 19:25
- HE LIVES (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 12-19).
- HE LIVES FOR US. Hebrews 7:25b--"He ever liveth to make intercession for them."
(2) The Certainty of Death
Text: Job 19:26a
A. THE APPOINTMENT OF DEATH (2 Corinthians 5:1-10). Hebrews
9:27—“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment.”
B. THE ASSESSMENT AT DEATH (1 Corinthians 3:10-15).
(3) The Certainty Of Seeing God
Text: Job 19:26b-27
- WE SHALL SEE HIM (1 John 3:2).
- WE SHALL BE SATISFIED WITH HIM. David, said in Psalm 17:15, "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."
CLOSING:We may face a multitude of uncertainties in our lives, but we can be assured of the certainty of a Living Redeemer, Death, and Seeing God face-to-face.
Paul, the apostle, said in 1 Corinthians 13:12, “For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” We will understand it all someday, but until then let us thank god for the certainties!
Is there one that needs to come to the altar tonight? For any reason? If so, come while God's Spirit pleads with you!
