MIM Master Essay Award 2016
MIM has opened nominations for the 2016MIM Master Essay Award. MIM has established this prize to stimulate and recognise excellent master essays in the field of migration. All master students at Malmö University – independently of disciplinary affiliation – are eligible for this prize. The field of migration studies conveys both population movements, ethnic relations and reactions to these. In other words, the essay could deal with the current refugeesituation, but it does not have to do this.
The 2016competition is open to all students who successfully defended their master essay at Malmö University within the study year 2015/16. Deadline for submission ofapplication is 30 September 2016. Applicants are invited to apply on their own behalf, although essay supervisors, examiners and other academic staff may also nominate candidates.
MIM, Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare was established as a research institute in 2007 as a research institute at Malmö University. It strives to be a vibrant Swedish centre for research on migration, diversity and welfare, while at the same time keeping a high international profile.
This annual prize is awarded to what MIM Award Committee deems the best master essay in the field of migration. The field of migration studies connotes to processes of mobility, inclusion and exclusion and its varying expressions in politics, policies, places, institutions as well as people’s everyday lives.
This year is the third time we offer the price. The two recent winners were Isabelle Johansson, currently employed as PhD student at the department of Social Anthropology in Lund and last year Katarina Mozetič won the prize. She has recently entered a PhD position Oslo at the department of Sociology and Human Geography.
