From Your DoM

Last month I said I was looking forward to working with our churches, pastors, staff and members as we serve our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Well, let's roll up our sleeves and get started. Here are some upcoming opportunities:

1) Easter Egg Hunt at Table Rock State Park on Saturday, April 19th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A ministry group of 10-12 is needed to help with the egg hunt and to share the Easter story. This is a great opportunity for a youth group on mission. Contact Cindy Morris @878-9813 if your group is interested.
2) Easter Sunrise Service at Table Rock State Park on Sunday, April 20th. A group is needed to go through the park on Saturday (April 19) inviting campers to the service on Sunday morning.

3) Flea Market Ministry groups needed to serve through our Cup of Cold Water ministry each Wednesday, June 4 – August 13. We will offer face painting for children and a friendly face to all who pass by. All supplies are furnished. What a cool summer mission opportunity for your adults or youth this summer! Reach hundreds of people this summer in a matter of hours. Greet them, offer a cup of cold water(free) and share Jesus and your church with them.
4) Backyard Vacation Bible Schools at locations in Pickens and surrounding areas. A great way to impact our schools and communities for Christ. A perfect mission trip right here at home.
Finally, the process of visiting all the churches is ongoing. I look forward to worshipping and fellowshipping with all of you. If I can serve you in any way, please call. Stop by and let's talk about what God is doing in your church and in our association.

Disaster Relief Report On March 2nd a disaster relief team from the Pickens-Twelve Mile Association was deployed to Beech Island, SC in response to February’s severe ice storm. This team served primarily as a chainsaw unit. The team consisted of Sharon and Hubert Hudson, Ken Nix, Bobby Gray, Joel Galloway, Susan and Rick Grant, and Blue Hat leader Robert Cowan. The group stayed at the Second Baptist Church in Beech Island. The members of the Second Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church provided exceptional meals for the team. Their hospitality was greatly appreciated by all.

The team was able to assist ten different families. Among these families were several widows and elderly people who did not have the resources to pay for limb and tree removal. Before leaving a home, each homeowner was asked if they knew the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. A Bible was signed by each team member and then was given to the homeowner, followed by prayer. Due to the rain that moved into the area, the team had to leave a day earlier than planned. It has always been and continues to be a rewarding experience serving people following a disaster.
