The luminaire shall consist of a spun aluminium control gear housing and high pressure die cast aluminium trim ring with an enclosing glass. It shall be designed to operate compact fluorescent, 50/80/125W mercury vapour, or 50/70W high-pressure sodium and 70/100/150W metal halide lamps.
The luminaire shall bear the SANS 60598-2-1 safety mark.
The luminaire shall have a degree of protection that complies with SANS 60598-2-1:
Lamp compartment: IP 54
The IP rating shall be certified by an SABS test report.
The dome-shaped control gear housing shall be manufactured from spun aluminium, chromated, pre-treated and finished in epoxy powder coating. It shall be able to accommodate the control gear assembly up to 150W. The optical system shall consist of a post anodised reflector, mounted inside the control gear housing. The lampholder shall comply with VC 8011, be rated to withstand 240°C and shall prevent loosening of the lamp caused by vibrations.
The luminaire shall be able to be fitted with a spun aluminium disque assembly, powder coated in white on the underside. In conjunction with a bead blasted aluminium cone suspended on a stainless steel rod attached to the glass cover, it shall be able to create a sparkling effect whilst illuminating the underside of the disque assembly.
The control gear shall be incorporated inside the control gear-housing. It shall be suitable for operation with the specified rating of the lamp on a 230V +3%/-10% 50Hz single phase system. All control gear components shall be removable and bear the relevant SABS mark. All internal wiring shall be Teflon® coated with protective sleeving to prevent damage by possible abrasion. All screws, bolts and metals shall be stainless steel or of non-corrosive material. Mains connections shall be by means of a suitable screw terminal block with a wire clamping contact. Ignitors, where applicable, shall be of the superposed pulse type. The luminaire shall be power factor corrected to a minimum of 0,9.
