General Information
DEVELOPMENTAL READING AND WRITING II Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in ENC 0017 or appropriate score on PERT or other approved assessment. An integrated reading and writing course designed for students scoring 50-83 on PERT reading and a 90-98 on PERT writing; or 84-103 on PERT reading and 50-89 on PERT writing; or 84-103 on PERT reading and 90-98 on PERT writing. The course will focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary skills, grammar, and essay writing. In addition, the course will address the connection between reading and writing through reading response activities.

Grading Rubric
Every assignment, including Discussion Boards, will be graded for content, required length, application of details from the text, grammar and mechanics. See attachment under Content in the Blackboard forum
Make-up Policy for Assignments
-No make-up is available without explicit consent from the instructor, which will only be granted in cases of documented extreme emergency. Final Exam and Assessments must be completed within the assigned time frame and cannot be made up. Missing the final exam will automatically result in a grade of F.
-All late assignments will be penalized 10% of the full score, if the work is turned in up to 5 days after the due date. After 5 days the penalty will be 15 – 20 % of the full score.
Extra Credit policy
No extra credit will be given in this course
Withdrawal Policy
A student who withdraws from class before the withdrawal deadline of November 10, 2017 will receive grade of “W.” A student is not permitted to withdraw from the class after the withdrawal deadline. If you remain in the class after the withdrawal deadline, you can only receive a grade of A, B, C, D, or F. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of the date and withdraw before the withdrawal deadline.

Academic Honesty
It is important that each student complies with the college policy on academic honesty as noted in the college catalog and student handbook. If a student is found guilty of dishonesty (plagiarism), the student will receive a zero grade for the assignment; and a second offence can result in an “F” grade for the course. All submitted assignments must be your own, even in group work (main pointsmay be the same but paragraph sentences must be individualized)
Communicating with Your Instructor
As noted above, all communication will be done through the course via backboard. However, it is recommended that you also keep an open communication relationship with other members in the class, just in case you miss any information.
