With a focus on safety, personal development and good times COASTRIDER Surf Academy will teach students the skills to ride a wave and become a better surfer. Endorsed by Surfing Australia, COASTRIDER provides students with a positive surfing experience. Surf safety/awareness, board riding techniques, confidence and encouragement are our top priorities. You can be assured that COASTRIDER Surf Academy will be motivating and stacks of fun for the students.
Surfing is a positive, healthy and motivating experience. Structured learning is offered with students being taught surfing theory, as well as practical techniques with the Surfing Australia Safe Surfing Program available as a certificate course. We offer pre surf lessons in your classroom, viewing a DVD and covering safety awareness, to get the crew ready and amped for their surf day, which is all included as part of your Surf Program. Your school surf session will always be attended by Jono, the owner/manager of COASTRIDER, making sure you receive the best service and surf instruction.
Safety is our number one priority, with all our coaches being highly qualified; each coach has Senior First Aid Certificate, Surf Bronze Medallion and Level 1 Surf Coaching cards. The COASTRIDER team of coaches includes Tasmanian State Men’s and Women’s surfing champions, and mature experienced surfers that will make your students instruction is of the highest quality. We have a 1 to 8, coach to surfer lesson instruction, which makes sure surfers are provided with plenty of attention in a safe manner. COASTRIDER has a $20M public liability cover, and meets all your school safety guidelines. Best of all your students will love COASTRIDER because our coaches are heaps of fun and fair to all.
COASTRIDERoffers the best super warm wetsuits and quality/safe softboards all included in your surf program. We have sealed, long arm and long leg steamers that are super flexible and warm, and we also have wetsuit hoods and thermal rash vests if you require. Our quality Surf Softboards are safe and easy and we have one to suit any surfing ability and need. If your school owns their own equipment then a COASTRIDER coach is available for hire on an hourly basis. COASTRIDER also offers a Surf Coach and equipment for attendance at School Camps.
If transport is required COASTRIDER has a 14 seater bus to get your group to and from the beach. Alternatively, a larger bus for up to 23 people can be hired, driver included. We will always travel to the safest surf location on the day of your lesson.
COASTRIDER Surf Academy School Surf Programs
COASTRIDER Surf Academy offers various options for schools from extensive 6 week programs to a quick and fun surf session. Listed below are the structured courses and costs that we deliver, or COASTRIDER can work with you to formulate a lesson plan with learning outcomes to suit your requirements and budget. All quoted prices are drastically reduced to meet school budgets.
· Safe Surfing Program
As well as surf skills, the Safe Surfing Program includes topics such as first aid, oceanography and equipment selection. This means the participant gains skills that will enable a lifetime of safe participation in surfing.
The Safe Surfing Program takes beginner surfers to a level of competency where they can get the maximum out of their time in the water. The delivery time is flexible and there is also the option of incorporating a 64 page work book which provides further educational value particularly for school groups. Participants should then be awarded a Certificate of Completion by the surf school at the end of the course. This certificate is supplied free of charge by Surfing Australia.
“Safe Surfing” is a five tiered certificate program available for surf schools to deliver in which participants obtain Certificate of Completion at each level. Cost: This is based on levels of achievement you want your surfers to undertake. Jono will meet with you to further discuss the program.
· A Day at the Beach
During your day at the beach activity students participate in a full 2 hour learn to surf session that covers all essential techniques and skills to stand up on a surfboard. Students can continue to use all COASTRIDER surfboards/body boards and wetsuits for the day. Students also participate in various fun beach activities throughout the day that the COASTRIDER crew facilitate, a surf quiz is also run with prizes to the winners. Hire of Clifton or Carlton Park SLSC can be organized along with full catering options for your group. Cost: $25-$40 depending on facilities required and catering options.
· QUIKSTAND Surf Activity.
This Surf session is designed to get the students in the water to experience the thrill of surfing. The basic skills and techniques are delivered in a safe surfing environment. Prior to the beach surf session, Jono will hold a classroom lesson covering all safety and environmental issues relating to surfing, after that the students are ready to hit the beach for a 2 hr session along with some free stickers. Cost: $18 per Student.
COASTRIDER Surf Academy School Surf Programs
· Equipment hire.
Surfboard, Bodyboard and Wetsuit hire is also available if you wish to run your own surf/beach day or just require additional equipment on top of your own school supplies. The COASTRIDER Trailer will be dropped off at the beach for your convenience. Cost: $10 per surfboard, $5 per body board, $5 per wetsuit.
